How long till Yamaha sinks or swims in the sled market?

90% of my riding is tree bashing. and we laugh at the ppl that say you cant ride a yamaha in the tree's.

I must agree here....however I am a bit played out at the end of day....

Heres my 2 cents....Chris Brown finally had a year on their ride last year, this being there sponsored mountain rider. I see changes coming based upon his input along with RS. If you see all of his segments in the movies it all involes tree riding or some type of tight turning segment. I did not see him pull a big chute or side of moutain in any of his segments this year.
Even RS segement in thunderstruck was small....

I've owned both stock and boosted Nytros and Apexes. I really wanted to go all 4 stroke for the big power and dead reliability. I rode strictly 4 strokes for 3 years in the hills. What I found is yes, they will do the trees and tight spots if you can manhandle them well enough. My biggest P-off with them was when we did trips to the mountains and there wasn't at least a foot of fresh to ride in. That's when the 4 smokers are bears to work with. 3 days of subpar snow conditions and I was a pile of jelly. And I'm 6'3" and lift weights daily. Lol.
I also couldn't keep sliders on my Apes. What a joke when you're riding Renshaw and you only make it up and down the 30km trail twice with brand new sliders. Then I had to rent the last day because no one in town had sliders. Lol. And this was with the idlers removed, running scratchers and a loose track.
I also got sick of waiting year after year for something that was updated or new. Boring! Sure the Nytro got a couple decent updates, but basically the same old Slug.
So I went back to riding stock 2 strokes for a bit and had the time of my life again and had energy to burn. Now I'm back on the boost for this year on a 2 stroke. Woohoo.

ya..i think if they want to build a "game changer" its going to have to be a light 2 stroke. id buy one. amazing quality. but even if its a supercharged 300hp stock sled with warranty its still a 4 stroke and its still heavy. and to some thats exactly what they want. but thats only 50% or less of the riders out there that want a powerfull 4 stroke.

My oh my I love my Nytro!!!!!! Who knew I was going to say that???????? Is Yamaha going anywhere? Not likely........are changes coming very likely. We had the pleasure of meeting Randy S. this weekend in Saskatoon I have wanted to meet him for a very long time. What a great ambassador for Yamaha.

Yamaha is a multi million dollar company they are putting R&D into places where they can make money like all companies do whether we will see changes in their mountain sleds remains to be seen. Hold onto your hats!!!!!!!

First off slider are not 200 they are about 50 a set. I am changing my slider now after approx 2000 miles. My skid is stock rails with timbersled arms. Are they not running any idler wheels?

Stock skid ? If drivers r a little loose they will burn. This is experience talkin.

Buddy's Apex chews them up when he runs hard pack on a 2.5" paddle without his scratchers down. Otherwise he gets a whole season out of a set easy when he isn't too lazy to stop of 20 seconds and put them down right Shawn?? LOL

The taller the track the less snow and the faster they heat up and melt. Throws the scratchers down and no issues. Moral of the story: put scratchers down in hard pack.

Yeah I think so. What do you mean by loose drivers? Like play side to side?

I've owned 136" and 162" Apexes. Both ate slides like they were going out of style. Didn't matter if the track was loose or to specs, scratchers or not. It's a well documented issue. Thats why most Yammy guys are looking for a "miracle" hyfax. With the 162", I ran scratchers all the way up the trail to the alpine and pulled over every couple kms to kick snow into the skid. Didn't help.
My Nytro 153" wasn't as bad but still wore sliders hard on the front radius of the skid.
You'll always have the guys saying they've never had issues. But I think they're a minority. The 4 smokes just have extra weight to move around.

It's a easy and cheap fix guys. When I got my nytro I got another set on wheels and put them up front by where the scratchers were but I had to take the scratchers off and I've put 1500 km and they haven't worn a bit, my dads before he got another set of wheels they burned up in 500 km by the way I have a 153 and he's got a 162

i have rode 4strokes since 04 never once had a slider issue & i ride with other 4strokes most get a couple season out of them,weight has very little to do with how a slider wears. if it cools & lube proper there is no issue.oh & yammi aint going away anytime soon.

You must not ride any hard pack. And you can bet extra weight has a big factor on slide wear.

Cat needs a new motor builder. Yami needs mountain help. The 2013 mini 120 yamaha sled is a identical replica to the cat 120. The motor is a yami. That tells me.... Not much yet. But something's happening. Also the dealer meeting for yamaha Canada and USA is in Minnesota in February when we find out a out the new yami. And cats are made in Minnesota. Hmmm. It's got me thinking
