That's a good 07... Better keep that byotch lol

I know. I am dumbfounded because all the issues with them. Gone through one track and one set of sliders.
Bolts and ski bushings had to be zip cut and replaceg after last season.
But all in all. Been fortunate.

Good time to do top end. Doo don't want your money in this case,

Piston skirt failure is something no one expects, but it results in total engine destruction. That is with all 2 strokes in general..

Good preventive medicine to swap out pistons before 4000k.

I have heard ski doo recommends rebuilds at 3500 km, my 2009 has about 3000. so i am thinking ski doo just wants my money huh?

Did pistons at 3800, Was warranty, Stock ones hooked a ring. Then put new RK Tek Pistons in at 6700, with a new Doo crank. Took many hrs to true the Doo crank. If I wasnt in a rush, I would have sent it back. .009" PTO .007" Mag runout. But now she just about 9K. I reccomend RK Tek Pistons. I had noticable Power fade on some climbs I did to get out of a few areas. 90+ seconds WFO. Would have to stop for 30 sec on a ledge, let her cool, then hit the summit. Now, with RK Tek, Its a full pull with no loss

WOW
these BS stories are even better than fishing stories
had 2 - 2007 - 800 and both blew the cranks/motor at 3500
Even one of Edmontons top engine rebuilder said the PTek engine was the best thing SkiDoo even made for him

he made a ton of money rebuilding those 800s
so much do it took over 3 weeks to get ours in he was so busy....

I don't fish ministik man, so I guess I don't bs...sorry to hear that you had the bad 2007 so did some friends of mine . Worst year they ever had.
My 2008 xp original engine went close too 8500kms, top end done at 5000. Only replace it cause the crank spec was getting to far out. The second engine I didn't do a darn thing to it and it made at least 10000 maybe more (speedo was not working for awhile). Ring locator pin went. So there is no bs here. These are all hard mountain km's too. But I do my best at keeping every thing in good spec and proper warm up before I rip up the trail.
Hoping to hit 15000 with motor #3 that's balanced, maybe hit close to 40000kms on the old 08.

Run about half a litre of injection oil in your gas tank every ride to help from the fuel washing the intake side of piston clean of oil, will get more life out of her

Some guys have better luck then others. And 07 was the worst year! So many thing factor into engine life like warm up, oil quality, fuel quality, heat management it's impossible to predict engine life.

Fella I ride with ran a 2007 till 7800kms and was still running when it was rebuilt under warranty .
2008 sled he ran to over 10000kms with out rebuild.
He puts lots of miles on in the mountains and has never had much for trouble but not a throttle pumper and always warms sled up .

My 2008 PTek lasted about 2700k before the bearing on the crank went and took out most of the motor with it. I went with a new short block. 150km later the secondary clutch tore itself to pieces.....was an expensive year!

mine is a 2013 and got 3000km still run great never get hotter than 140f and never snap it till 105F i think in most case the driver and maintenance are the reason why people dont get high mileage. A friend of mine has 9500km on a 2009 summit and he has only changed intake boots
