My Dynasty spa hot tub place started me on Lithium Hypochlorite shock to control bacteria but its getting $$$$.

Has anyone tried the calcium hypochlorite for pools, I know its way stronger but 1/5 the price to. A 1kg pail was $50+ for the Lithium and I just bought a 7kg pail of calcium hypochlorite at CT for $40. I run my HT with little to no chlorine in it. I just shock it after every use.

I tried 2 TBSP and my chlorine is at 10 ppm or higher, but I dont think its to bad, just wondering if it will flash off as fast as the Lithium?

nope.......

so you have a chlorine level in your HT all the time then right!

I don't, we just do mini shocks after every use with the Lithium shock. About 1-2 TBSP per person for every 1/2 hour of use. And a big shock once a week.

I always had issues keeping our levels in line and the water was always crappy. Neighbor gave me some advice. I now fill the tub, add 1-2 cups of hydrochlorich acid. let sit for the day and then add a mini puck every couple weeks. Not a single issue since. my 2 cents. Older beach comber, no ozonator

lol good one, did you know that 1 in 3,500,000 people are allergic to chlorine. I know this cause my ex thought she was but when she went in the doctor told her that it is very unlikely.

We have a bromin generator on our Pacific spa's. But our tub is salt water and we find the water is 100 times softer than my buddies old chlorine tub.

chlorine is what I use

do not like the smell of bromine

I have a beachcomber recipe for 1400 liters weeky maintenance and a daily spoon full of clorablast

laundry soap in the swim suits, make-up on the girls, beer will screw the water up

the floaty things that you load up with pucks I find are hard to control

to much... not enough chemicals

Yes I have been using this for about 2 years. Very easy to control levels and makes the water very nice. There is only two of us the use the tub generally so I add and pouch and cube every 10 days. Use the floaty for bromine cubes. Highly recommend this product.

approx 10 years ago we changed to an ozonator system for approx $350 installed. Zero chemicals, zero testing zero issues and water is always clear and no foam. Sometimes we don't lift the cover for a month and still nice and clear. Hot tub companies will tell you negative spins but our local guy basically told us otherwise as he is also a water tester and monitor for various treatment plants.
