Dustin, if it like the salt water pools, you ad salt in the beginning then the system produces the salt going forward.

The chlorine generator (also known as salt cell, salt generator, salt chlorinator or SWG) uses electrolysis in the presence of dissolved salt (NaCl) to produce hypochlorous acid (HClO) and sodium hypochlorite (NaClO), which are the sanitizing agents commonly used in swimming pools.

I bought a MAAX hot tub from RnR here in Calgary this year. It does have the ozonator, and we use about a tea spoon of "Easy Shock Plus" once a week or depending how much beer medler spills in it..... We went to spa school at RnR and lots of information to be had, and well worth the 2 hours.

Our older hot tub from RnR we were told to use what works for us...…. being the floating chlorine puck dispenser, bromine, PH +&-, blah blah blah.....
I have the other chemicals here from the old tub still(not going to use)
But the "ozonator" is the kittens poop chute, whether you use chems or not.
