Haven't even been to Golden this year because of snow conditions and the closure of the two best spots!! Just wondering if there has been any changes on the road or if anyone has found different routes to get into either place? Can we cross the lake anywhere to get to Chatter? Thanks want to ride there this week!!

I drove out to check the other day. there is a gate blocking the B-road at 49km. so I guess it's still a no go. Not sure about people burning across the lake for chatter.. ballsy move. but might work!

What happens to all those people that have booked there spot to stay at Chatter lodge when it opens for snowmobiling. Do we lose our money? Or can you ride from KM 49?

yeah forestry put the gate up. beyond that the rock cut is deemed unsafe.
I don't know what the plan is for Chatter sled days.. but they are taking bookings so i assume they will figure it out.. i hope!

Talked to a friend at GSR, and I was told that since the road is "unsafe", an escort will take you from the gate to the lodge. When I say escort I mean man in car, not woman in pink poof poofs and a push up bra. I believe this is what they are doing for their skiers right now. I also believe that this is the same for the sledders. However, no reservation, no escort, no sledding. Anyways, please just think of this as a rumor.

This info is directly from the lodge: The accessibility and road details are not 100% but they "think" forestry will provide an escort across the slide area at 8am and 4pm.
Seems like no one is really clear what is going on.

Currently Chatter has the right to use the road on a limited bases for supplies and staff, but not for guests and sledders. If you want to go around the barricade you can do so at your own risk, if caught by Forestry you will be fined accordingly? (not sure what the fines would be?).

Chatter Creek is working hard with Forestry to figure out how vehicles, sleds or both will be let through the slide area. An answer is to come next week, hopefully. It's not Chatter causing the problems it is Forestry, I agree with the comment earlier that this is a reason that Forestry has been looking for to keep sledders out!

I haven't miss a year of riding at Chatter since 1999. If I miss this year I will be pissed! The people at Chatter are all for working with sledders and want us to experience this HUGE area of fun! Knowing them well... I believe they are doing their best to get that road open.

Roads been open since Late July. Forestry spend the dollars and got a crew in to descale (get rid of all the loose rock). Took them a couple weeks. Anyways it will be open this winter. Not much snow yet though- been up the last two weekends and there's only a bit in the alpine so it'll be a little while still.
