We recently rode the Canoe Mountain trail near Valemount, BC, which was thoroughly enjoyed. Took us up to about 8500 ft I believe. Anybody know of a comparable high elevation ride here in Alberta?

Obviously not in Alberta but there are a some great mountain rides in Barkerville, Two Sisters has as good of views as anything I have ever seen, a solid 2 hour ride with a similar trail system to Canoe mountain, an old fire watch station at the top.

Mt Hammel and Kaw Ridge by Grande Cache are pretty good rides.Been up there a couple times. Back roads map book lists Sugarloaf Mountain ,west of Claresholm as a quad accessible trail to a fire lookout over 8000 ft. Has anyone rode this one?

Pikes Peak at Colorado Springs.

Only 1 day a year when they have the dual sport bike day.

They race up the gravel road section. 14.000 + feet of awesome-ness.

The best I found in Alberta is along the Eastern Slopes where OHV'S are allowed. 4000 to 5700 + ish feet. I'm sure there are other spots over that one would think.

No I don't. I just seen a thread on it here last summer. I think someone had some info on it in that thread. Try searching for it it might pop up.

Just looked it up and Mount Toma is a good one at almost 8800 ft. Does anyone know what the trail is like and if it is open to machines?

Might be a snow line right now near the top?

There are more high elevation trails 8000+ rides in southern Alberta. couple around ghost/Waiparous more SW of willow creek, indian graves, dutch creek, York, Castle ect.
Sugarloaf Mountain is a nice and easy trail and the dutch creek area is nice. but sadly might be lost soon to atv's, as i think the whole area is under the process to be reclassified.

I was recently on a fire lookout trail in NW end of ghost i think 7900feet? have to look at the gps. you could see Calgary, clear as day even the Agrium in Carseland over 150km away which was cool. world looks a lot smaller when your high up.
