They do have the right to inspect your load. A friend was stopped and fined for two loose full jerry cans inside his enclosed.
ya if u say sure go ahead into my trailer for no good reason, otherwise theyd be no the wiser, its an enclosed. they can ask all they want, id tell em to beat it if theyre jus lookin for infractions

oh oh... here we go about the traffic laws "i have a friend who has a friend that got raped by the cops" thing... I guess I have been lucky, been sledding for 20 some years and been pulled over twice in all our trips. 1 was because we had trouble with the lights on the deck and they weren't working and another cause we got stopped just past valemount because the road was closed and the DOT's were giving us a hard time because we had 1 sled in the box sitting on the tailgate with no straps on it.... but neither of the times got us a ticket, and we have had decks on half tons. 3 sleds on a deck, 6 sleds in an enclosed trailer sometimes tied down, sometimes not, 2 sleds in a half ton short box with no deck ( 1 sled each way on the box sides ) etc etc

Too argue umm noo they do not have the right to inspect anythin in an enclosed unless they have probable cause or ur permission. Same as ur vehicle, garage, house anythin.

I swear people hand their rights over to a badge just cause they say so. People imo are way too trusting/compliant with alot of law enforcement, and they take advantage of it by bullying people and putting fear into them that theyre breakin the law wen in fact theyre doin nothin wrong

And for the people that say if ya got nothin to hide why not let em toss ur ****, and to them i say ur fakked, just opening the door to full on police states.... Fuuuuk that.

Better keep your $hit tight with that attitude then cuz if you have one violation they will nail you on it and may even delay you while they wait for a dog, or sometimes a search warrant depending on what is wrong with your vehicle like if it fits the description of being involved in a theft.

perry mason style...case in point to the post of mine u quoted. Because i know and value my rights they get too make my life difficult looking for infractions that arent there?? Alright bud, you live and bow how you think benefits you, but me ill keep my rights thank you.

Next theyll be knocking on ur front door at dinner time for no reason, no warrant, or cause to "search" cause there may be an infraction, and youll say OK with your attitude, sound like a promising future for someone just minding their own business?

And ya my $hit is tight and in order so i got nothin to worry about

Infractions are one thing and I probably would question them if they wanted to look inside my trailer if I only got stopped for a burnt out light or something. Chances are if your record is clean and you have no other issues they won't push it.

But if your vehicle matches the description of one stolen or involved in a theft or another crime that is all they need to detain you and investigate you and inside your trailer and vehicle.

You can either take the quick and easy route and show them you are good and have nothing to hide and be on your way or you can waste a bunch of time and sit and wait for a search warrant and/or dog if they feel they have enough to make it worth getting. That's the way of the law.

Your choice which way you want to do it.
I'll take the path of least resistance myself.

I look at it this way, first they don't know me. They don't know if I run stolen sleds or equipment or drugs or not. So they have to approach me with that in mind. Second I'd rather them do checks than not at all. Zero chance of finding a stolen sled or quad in an enclosed if they don't look right? And if yours was stolen and found later in a check you would be happy they did no?

I'm not saying that the attitude everyone could be guilty is right, but it's the unfortunate reality of the world we live in.
