2002 Mountian Max: 515 pounds (dry?)

2005 M7: 460 pounds (dry)

If you go on google and type in the sled and then put review on the end example (mountain max review). there is lots from different sites and people.

M series is very agile, and easy to tip over/handle in the mountains.
M7 features fuel injection.. depending on the year, etc..
M7 is a twin, vs. a triple which makes it lighter.
M7 has better ergonomics and suspension. (A arm vs. Trailing arm.)
All I can think of off the top of my head.

i realize you didnt want to talk about any other brands but why are you set on cat if you havent put any seat time on any of them. why not take advice from someone who has spent years on all differant sleds and not just some people who buy one machine and are biased towards it because thats all they have ever owned.

Was out with the Cats today and a Polaris Dragon 700. Tore up the drifts all day catching huge air. Cats very easy to throw around, so is the Dragon 700 from waht I saw today.... Love my Cat though, it usually lands in the direction I'm looking :)

I was not a cat fan untill my brother bought an 06 M7 and its been a great machine. I love my Rev but i was buying a new sled it would be a cat. As for miliage....they all burn fuel when your on the flipper, it all depends on how far you push that flipper. I think cats are pretty good for reliability again depending on how you ride and maintain them. They will all break at some point and to most people thats when they become a POS.

Well as you know i have nothin but good to say about the m7 (EXCEPT LACK OF REVERSE!!!!) but oh well beggars cant be choosers.

I have 4700km on mine and those are hard ridden miles, this summer i tore hole sled down to inspect for any damage and sled was good had a look at my pistions each cylinder was at 130psi on the nose and not a single scuff anywhere on the pistons. My dealer has never seen the inside of a stock 700 laydown motor as long as you dont tweat them to much then you start playin with fire but this is the case with any sled. As for power from a 700 you will love it last weekend in mcbride i was pullin higher and steeper then most 800's everyone i rode with that was on a m8 thought i had a m8 aslo....Mind you mine has some slight modification but it doesnt take much. Best part about any m tho is that there super easy to throw around ALL DAY LONG!!!:d

It'll take some time to get used to the m series if you do get one. Hoping over from my viper to dez's M feels SUPER weird, and it rides funky compared to what im used to on my Viper. Just some food for thought.

Hi their

I own a 97 & 2001 mm & a RS Vector SE very reliable sleds,M7 are also a very good sled it more comes down to parts & service I know with my mm I can transfer a lot of parts from differant years Articats I'm not to sure off. A good sled to buy in a yamaha is a viper its last year I think is 2004. I found myself if u put a riser on the sled that I could move it around a lot easier. The best way is to talk to other riders & see what they like & how their sledds are performing. Yes yamaha's do weight a few more pounds but unless your one of the axtreme riders I would be more worried about perfomance than weight, My sledds have never died on the mountain, and I'm not worried about being the king of the hill, because it comes down to the guy with the deepest wallet. RIDE SAFE

Hey barry i was hoping you would comment as a die hard yamaha guy. His point of there being a good parts source (dealer) is HUGE one of the reason i love my cats is because my dealer here in veg ROCKS!!! jeff (owner) is a very smart man and will tell you straight up what works and what doesnt if i only had a great yami dealer i would prob ride yami. Its nice to walk into a dealer and get exactly what you need and know it will work.

As for parts a HUGE amount of m-series parts will switch over.

Can't beat a M!!! If you get serious about buyin one, my neighbour(who is a mechanic) has a 06 or 07 for sale with about 450miles on it. It is absolutley MINT. Been to the mountians 3-4 times and he will only haul it in the box of his truck to keep road debris off it(the other sleds go on the trailer). He want's around $6500 and I figure that is a steal!! It looks just like the one pictured above, but BONE stock!!!
