I was dead set on a M-Series as well because I was a cat fan... but decided to buy a XP, and I'm sure glad I did! I always though they handled bad, but I find them super easy to sidehill and carve with. They seem to be alot more predictable climbing than the cats from what I saw in the hills, as well they climb better.
I think you should try riding all 3 sleds (XP, IQ, M-series) and decide for yourself!

Hey barry i was hoping you would comment as a die hard yamaha guy. His point of there being a good parts source (dealer) is HUGE one of the reason i love my cats is because my dealer here in veg ROCKS!!! jeff (owner) is a very smart man and will tell you straight up what works and what doesnt if i only had a great yami dealer i would prob ride yami. Its nice to walk into a dealer and get exactly what you need and know it will work.

As for parts a HUGE amount of m-series parts will switch over.

yah we have a cat deale joe (owner) he is very easy to deal with , when we met him we were trading a yamaha big bear , a 93 , and he gave us what we paid for it!! $3,500. we told him when ever you get a yammy in , call us!! so he does! i am a yamaha guy so i am torn between the two sleds (mm700 , m7) thanks for all the advice guys!!!!

ok thanks. i have driven the nytro , and the mouain max (well its cousin!) so i want to try the 600 skidoo and the cat.

I you're making a good move to try em all first. All these forums make the XP sound like they handle like crap but I don't have trouble riding them. In fact on my first day I was riding better than many of the cats on the hill. The XP has made me alot better rider, especiallly in the trees. Remember I'm coming off a cat and thought for sure my next sled would be an M8. Don't be a brand loyal, be brand smart! :d

With that being said the M7 is an awsome sled, but it's still a 700... I used to own the cat 700 and I loved it, but it had very little low end power as it's a top end sled. They are extremely easy to pull over (too tippy for some) and hold a sidehill really good.

I had the same issue coming of a 2008 Polaris could flip it around real easy, now on a ski doo xp after the first trip to the Mtns. it handles pretty good, once you get the hang of it no problem adjusting to the Doo. Oh and climb like a u know what.
