No it 3% of 8000.

They say a belt drive is 97% efficient. So 97% of 8000 hp is 240 hp to turn that belt.

So a 8,000 HP engine loses 240 HP to turn a drive belt, that is still making 7,760 HP. This is not acceptable to you

Please post what the #'s would be, if this same 8,000 HP engine was running gears and a chain.

I would be VERY interested to know what the drag efficiency difference would be!!!!

Thats not what I said. It takes 700 hp to run that blower but the claims of a belt drive are 97% efficient dont jive.

???????????????????????

So I watched the CMXDX video and this is what I believe. I think they tightened up the chain on the Dragon so it would have a massive load on the drill. My thoughts on a belt drive are this. If a top fuel dragster blower needs 700 hp just to turn the blower that spells inefficient to me. Is there something im missing? If there is let me know. There have been other tests done to prove the belt drive on a sled is inefficient.
So..... I watched the video, and I would not have used a dragster as a comparison. I see the point of this thread, and I would like to see or know if they tighten the phuck out of the dragon chain case (if they did)? If the chain case has enough free play as the CMX system, I think the numbers would have been more relative.

Also..... in the vid, the guy running the drill on the Dragon, was not as consistant on the trigger as the first sled.
