doorfx is the man! He has offered untold amounts of knowledge on my wife's TRV.
Worst case I just replace the boot. There should be next to nothing wrong with the inside, the tear was very fresh. My Gorilla tape and tie wrap temporary repair held up for our whole ride, 100km plus all the donuts on the lake ice!

if that's the case clean up what you can, add a couple shots of grease, coat the boot tear with windshield sealer and continue on!
