So it's been a frustrating week. Nothing seems to be going as well as I had hoped.
Mostly it's parts that I'm missing or now need because I broke it.
Taking out drives is more work than I thought it would be. Good thing for Wobbly Pops...

Here are a couple things to note if someone, like me, is pulling drivers.

1. C clips that hold the bearing in on the Chain case are brutal to get out..patients...beer...patients.
2. When pushing the driveshaft into the chaincase be very careful, you can damage the seal as I did. Now I have an additional repair to complete.
3. Check the drivers, this is the time to replace them. Mine are shot so tomorrow I go hunting for new ones.
4. Replace bearings, easy now, much harder later.

This is a time consuming project. Takes lots of patients and is nice when it's done...I think, I still have to get repairs and put mine back together. It's also nice to have a second pair of hands, I didn't and I wish I had someone to help....where is Summitric when I need him...drunk in Mexico...lol...

I pulled the whole chaincase off on mine when I changed my track much easier then trying to remove that snap-ring in place.

On my '04 VE, i was able to remove the drive shaft without removing the snap ring or the chain case. There was enough room to slide it towards the secondary and then out. Very easy and you don't have to realign the jack shaft.:specool:

Its recommended in the shop manual to do so once the chain case is removed and you will need the alignment tool. And if something is going to fail or self destruck because of a missed or overlooked step. It will happen to ME!! My buddies say " if it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all." That's just me though.

Me Too, guess I'll add that to the list. Thanks for the heads up, I wouldn't have thought about doing that.

Why would I drop a tooth, less resistance on a 9 tooth compared to a 8 tooth. Nope no smaller gearing need.
Yup, Realign, And You Shoulda Pulled The Whole Case Off, Doofus!!! What About Dropping A Tooth On The Gears Now That You´re There???

I'll take any support I can, it's even better when the Pain In The Butt in Mexico...lol...

Thanks to a buddy who stopped by last night (Warren Long Hair) I managed to get the new drivers installed. Wow, with going to a 16" wide track there isn't much room to manover the drivers into place. It's a two man job for sure.
Chain case is in and now I have to install the new suspension. I'm missing one *$@#@)#(@ $5.00 part to get the suspension part to get it finished, hopefully I can find it today...Hopefully.
All going well my sled should be running tonight. Final step will to put on the tunel extension. I got lucky and found an extension that will allow me to use the "whako" coolers (means rounded cooler) from the 2001 RMK.

No, not at all, you may need to go to 8 tooth drivers to accomidate the 2" part of the track and maybe re-gear, but otherwise it's a straight forward swap
hey...to drop in a 151 by 2" track on my 98 700, would it be absolutely neccesary to drop and roll it?

So here is where I'm at as of tonight.

1. Missing suspension part...helps to have a wife that is a machinist...thanks Honey for making the part that I needed so bad. :thumbsup2:
2. I now have the drivers and the track in place.
3. It's extremely "tight" in the tunnel with the 16" in place. Tomorrow I have a bunch of Rivets to grind down, some will need to be replaced with stainless steel "shortys" rivets other wise the track will wear on them. The photo of the track shows it hanging off the rivets where it's too tight.
4. It's all about "luck", I was checking things out and noticed that both my rear drop brackets were broken (notice the broken weld and that was the good one).
5. A quick test fit of the suspension...it fits...whewwww.
