as there are good riding trails somewhere else besides hells half acre i lived beside the place all my life and ATV and off-road riders have destroyed buck for wildlife land and RCMP have been notified every time a rider or riders have come out and pressed charges i myself have been helping the RCMP clean up the local area to make it once a wildlife area where no quads , dirt bikes, trucks or etc will be allowed in it ever again where it will be a walking area for kids and there families like it was 25+ years ago . the people of the residents have had enough of these clubs BS and its time someone takes a stand against the clubs of the ATV society if you want to go riding they do have staging areas like Vega or rocky mountain house where its an experience you'll never forget and fun for the whole family as for the arrogant ass****s they will be reported to the RCMP with identification of there model of truck , trailer , licences plates and etc , I've heard of people taking vigilante justice into there own hands so the last thing the RCMP need is for someone to get hurt or even worse killed because people cant respect the living quarters of the residents of what they want to do with there neighborhood, they are tax payers too . Would you want me ripping up and down your street with my YZ125 and throwing massive parties and running over your animals with my bike , NO!! so that isn't tolerated there so why is it tolerated here ? people have suffered around here long enough and if you choose to keep this going i wont be hesitant to call my lawyer and i have some of the best lawyers in the world so don't tempt me ;) so my advice to you is go somewhere else instead of disturbing the peace cause that is against the law and i can have whoever i want charged :) so please ride somewhere else and thank you for your co-operation .

Parkland County residents west of Edmonton are fighting a proposal for an ATV park on land set aside more than 20 years ago as a wildlife habitat.
“It’s a terrible idea,” said Kevin Spencer, who farms across the road. “When I was first here I could go for walks and enjoy nature, see deer, moose, coyotes, rabbits. You never see that anymore.”
The two quarter-sections, known locally as Hell’s Half Acre, is already popular with ATV riders, who revel in its bogs and marshes.
Residents say they’ve complained to police and the county for years about noise, trespassing and vandalism.
Over the last 10 years Spencer said he’s put up with noise, swearing and drinking, vandalism, gunshots, and dangerous driving.
The worst day was when a woman brought his grandson’s dying cat up to the house after seeing it run over by an ATV, he said.
“She said the quad went right down into the ditch, just chased the cat down. It’s buried right here. We never did find out who did that.”

“It’s grotesque,” he said. “Someone wasn’t paying attention over the years to the land management of this. Obviously this hasn’t been looked after in any sense of the Buck for Wildlife concept.”
In 1997, the provincial government turned over management of Buck for Wildlife lands to the Alberta Conservation Association, an arms-length, not-for-profit organization.
“Buck” lands are normally reserved for foot traffic only, said Todd Zimmerling, ACA Chief Executive Officer.

[h=3]Land set aside in 1991 to protect habitat[/h]In 1991, the land was set aside under the Buck for Wildlife program where money from fishing and hunting licences was used to repair, enhance and manage important wildlife habitats.
The County agreed that for 30 years it would not “undertake, cause, permit, or allow the commencement or carrying out of any clearing, breaking, plowing, drainage, grazing, haying, or other activities or operations of any kind which would reduce or destroy the existing woodland or wetland habitat on the ‘habitat lands.”

This response is really disappointing to see coming from a senior member. I do not agree with what's been happening with Hells Half acre but I also don't agree with how some people have been taking law into their own hands to keep OHV users away. It would be nice if we could all discuss this as adults to find a solution to the issues at hand.

I think maybe tex had two many teas
HHA is in bad shape and needs to be regulated alot more. It will be lost as a riding area I am sure but like its been said in other threads its an easy target. Close to city and hit hard locals are tired of it and finally starting to take action. Hopefully if it gets closed it will be obeyed by all riders and we can move on from this

I understand how tired and frustrated you may be with the situation. I am just asking you to imagine how the residents feel when the "bad apples" are out there daily wrecking it for everyone. I think the county and province need to step up and designate some land close enough to the city and away from residential areas. As things are right now I think that's the best possible solution to a dangerously escalating problem.

:dontknow:So how do we get rid of the "bad apples"? Is it even possible to reach a happy medium where the wants and needs are met with all parties?

What about the local people that ride here. I also live in the area it's right behind my place I like to take an occasional ride through there I don't see a problem with it. By no means do I want see this as a major hotspot where there is disrespectful losers throwing parties having wild fires and running over animals. It sure is nice to leave out your front door and go for a ride one of the benefits of this area. I've seen the peace officers and RCMP in the area from what I understand its not illegal to ride back there. There is one area close to the subdivision that does have a wildlife reserve sign and I personally have never gone through there because of that but the trail off the RR has no wild life reserve sign. Not sure who you think you are threatening everybody saying you can charge whoever you want and you will sue anyone. Good luck with that this Canada and it doesn't work that way. Just remember pay back is a b#%ch.

My family owns quads and many of other "toys" I don't care to listen to OHV's tearing stuff up out my front door as I am sure many people here wouldn't like to hear it out their front doors as well otherwise they would stay home. My opinion is its just better and more exciting to go where people don't live. Explore a little 😉

That's the problem with subdivision living you'll always have ohvs ripping past your house. No different than living in town IMO. Except no 7-11 or Tim's at the corner and way more lawn to mow
Get out of town and enjoy the quite :)

U have to be off the beating path to get quite.

Again with the snarky comments. So much for acting like adults to try to find a reasonable solution for everyone. FYI, I have lived here longer than any OHV trail that has been made. I don't live in a subdivision and I will not move. Find somewhere else to ride your OHV's
