height increase from telescopic steering post?

how much taller is the 09 telescopic steering post (at hightest point) than he standard post found on the 08's?

IMO the telescoping posts are junk, they have so much play in them, and really? how often do you really need to change the height in the mountains, just more things to go wrong. just buy a 4 inch riser and BAM same height

A 4 inch riser isn't going to fix the slop. Most of it is the stupid plastic bushing that mounts the bars to the chassis and fixing that is more important if you ask me.

I use the adjustable post all the time. On the rough trails I put'em up higher so I can stand up. On smooth trails or logging roads, I lower'em right down so I can sit down. In the hills I keep'em half way to get better leverage over the machine. When I do the roll over unstuck trick, I lower'em all the way so they aren't torqued on so bad.

There's already a bajillion things that could go wrong on these things, "one more thing" is a drop in the bucket.

a 3" block actually gives you as much as you gain from the adjustable post, because the down position on a 2008 is lower than the stock bars. I would spend my money on the 2010 seat and a riser. With the new seat sitting while riding on a trail is by no means awkard.

Well in my opinion the telescopic post was a great investment,4 inch riser and your cables are going to be snug!The telescopic is around 3.5 inches higher than stock!I put 300 miles on mine this year and still never noticed the play while riding,so what if it wiggles when your standing around.I also am a big boy and if it was gonna bend or break I would have did it!
I would buy it again in a second!

I love my telescopic bars and theres no play in mine even after flipping the sled multiple times. I added a 2" riser as well.

thanks guys, I ask because I have an 08 std post and a 3" riser here. I was wondering if it would be as tall as the telescopic post.

I didnt like the steering play either so I guess I have a telescopic post for sale now, and a seperate telescopic top unit (no post, just the adjustable top 1/2)

BDX anti slop kit helps alot...
put the solid post in my HCR bent 2 telescoping ones....
and mine both had play within the stem not from the bushing...
jus sayin.

I have a '09 with a 3 inch riser and it is roughly 1/2" shorter than my brothers '10 SP at full extension. He has had to replace two bushings so far due to slop after only 500 miles. Agree, get the '10 seat and a 3 inch riser and call it good. No cable tightness with the 3" riser. By the way I am 6'4" and find this setup perfect.

Even when my machine was brand new it had slop in the adjustable steering post. It doesnt bother everyone, but it really bothered me. The slop comes from the splines in the adjustable post. That combined with the slop of the bushing it was just too much. The adjustable post also pushes you back farther on he machine as you raise it up, I prefer to be forward. Standard post rith a rox riser, bdx bushing kit, just the way i like it....TIGHT!LOL

I went with the Amp 3" billet riser on my '08. The offset built into the Amp riser actually brings your bars up, and forward instead of just straight up.
