Hey planning a trip to St. Anthony Sand Dunes, and just wondering if anyone would be interest in going. Would probably go for 5 days min. with two days of travel (come home on a Sunday). Dates are still in the air, cuz we want to try and work with majority. Looking at the end of May, possible sometime in June. Just looking to get a fair group together to go, have a good time, and try a new place for some. Are you interested?

St Ann's is a really good time. We are planning on heading down probably late may and then again with the family in early july.

Don't you hate those answers when you try and get a group together. We had a group of 8 of us last year and they all backed out but one. So him and I went on our own, it gets expensive when you do that though. I would have liked a 3'rd to help with fuel. My truck burns a little fuel draggin a 40' fifth but it's still worth it.

The dunes are a blast....

I have been there about a 1/2 a dozen times. The last time, 1 week after 911
The month of May can be on the hotter side, also check with the resort to make sure that the dunes are open ( they are seasonal ).
If your not running a sport quad that turns a wheel at a high RPM to run 1 7/8" paddles. Your better to take your 1/2 burnt off factory tires, and please don't get me wrong. Those tires will work great for you there. Keep this thread going....'cause I think that I may be thinking that I would like to hook up. I can help with the truck, or cargo trailer, or sleeps 5, and A/C trailer.

Bottom line. Honestly....Going through the big "D", and I don't mean Dallas. So I can't commit right now. But everyday is looking better.

I have 2 wheel drive sport quads and I run dune paddles but stock tires do work and you can have alot of fun. Sand is really hard pulling stuff so the more power the better. If you have a 4X4 quad you will be fine with stock tires but if you have sport quads I recomend you put on paddles. I sell alot here at my shop. I have lot's of customers that go down to St Ann's every year at least once or twice and they pretty much all run paddles. We go down in early may and it's good, not too hot and I quite often go down in july as well but it gets hot in july. When it's hot we'll usually ride early in the morning and then sit around camp or in the lake and then ride again in the evening.
My avatar was taken at St Ann's last year.

Sounds great, I've never been there in July....I bet that can get hot. September has alway's been my preferred month. But may is do-able

Thanks

Just saw this thread and I don't spend summers here in the Rexburg ( we are 6 miles south of the dunes) but I would be more than willing to help you guys out with any infor on when the dunes are open for the summer or anything along those routes. If you guys fish a good optioin you might look into when you come later in the summer when its hot is ride mornings, fish early afternoons and ride in the evenings. There is killer fly fishing down here.

In answer to a few questions raise in this thread, If you are going you better make reservations for spots as in May and June it is usually booked pretty tight. A great place that we stay is Sandhills resort. They have a website that will give you a lot of info on the dunes and a topo map with all the GPS coordinates. We usually stay there as there is grass and mature trees for shade. In regards to sand tires, if you don't have them they really help if you want to climb the bigger dunes, if you are just in to jumping and dunning it really doesn't matter you will still have fun. But to buy I would order from one of the dealers there and then pick them up while you are there as it is usually a lot cheaper. Also if anyone rides sleds there KLIM gear is a lot cheaper and the main warehouse for Klim is just down the rode.
Just for info, I have been to St. Anthony's a dozen times and it rocks.
We usually meet friends from Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, and Texas while there. The friends we meet have some of the best (fastest) drag quads I have ever seen. F.A.S.T. (Farm And Sand Toys) racing out of Kansas.
