So after my accident awhile back and bending my lower left control arm I have come to a conclusion. Straitening it out my spindle is almost straight up and down and it is spitting my ski rubber out after about 100km every time. Upon further investigation my aluminum lower support(518327487) is tweaked and the cheap ski-doo brace I put in helped but is twisted, so being in that far I might as well change the whole s-module 518328320. All my control arm bushings have play and I am going to replace them with brass ones while everything is apart and install upper braces. So my question is this,..

Any of you continue to run the ski-doo extreme skid plate along with the improved GnR brace 125-066? There is a shat ton of rivets I have to drill out to remove the skid plate,.. personal preference? I was thinking maybe modifying it so it only covers the rear control arm mounts to the heat exchanger, as it is hold way too much snow and freezes up the steering overnight.

I have, just use bolts to put your skid plate back together, except for the very back rivets. With the sled on its side, the skid plate will fold back far enough for you to do what you need to do. Besides, you will likely be in there again at some point, I know I have been!

I quit running one because I wreck stuff and getting it on and off a lot is a total pain. I have one to cut down to protect the the front heat exchanger but haven't had a chance to get to it yet.

I have one, but bolts were easier, knocking the rivets off sucked. On a positive note,.. nothing else damaged only the control arm,, what a relief.

How are you knocking the rivets off? I use a drill, it is super easy. If bolts work for you thats good.

I like the rivets personally.

I know I'm late to the party here, but I'm running the original full Grip N Rip braces with the extreme skid plate. 1/4" bolts & lock nuts with flat washers inside & outside. Bought a cheap 7/16" wrench from princess auto & welded a piece of smallish round bar to it so I could snake under and around the engine.

I considered modifying the shape of the skid plate behind the A-arms so snow and ice would fall out, but haven't really needed to.
To keep from freezing, I normally just dump my sled on it's side and kick the snot out of it at the end of the day or as needed.
