Go with the Drift HD. Can't beat it.
are you using the extra capacity batteries? makes a huge difference, I had the same problem with mine in the cold. they are cheap too, only 25 bucks each from Launch Helmetcams and almost double the capacity. you just have to pop the spacer out for the larger battery. The only bad thing I find with my drift HD 170 is the battery life, I have to carry three batteries to get through a whole day of sledding in the mtns. Cold weather seems to kill the battery super fast. However in the summer it lasts easily 5x longer. Used mine lots last summer quading and works pretty good. Definitely gotta get the water proof case though for summer. The camera looked like it was 5 years old after one quad ride out here without it lol
I have a couple 16gig micro SD cards, make sure you get a class 10 card. I see on the Launch site they now have 32 gig class 10 cards, used to only be able to get 16g in a class 10, they are the only ones that will allow HD video to be recorded. as for a car charger, just grab one of those 12v cig lighter deals with a USB port on it. my old Motorola 12v phone charger will charge my ghost too. get a handlebar mount kit, and a spare battery if they have them. when I pre ordered the ghost it came with an extra battery, I pack it in my pocket but the battery life is surprisingly good on the ghost. What kind of charger comes with the ghost? Do I need to buy an optional car charger? And what size of SD card should I be getting? Is there any "must have" assesories a guy should get for it? Thanks for the input fellas, I'm picking one up shortly (like in 15 minutes ) lol
They make 64g class 10s now for about $60, more than enough for a few days of ridingI have a couple 16gig micro SD cards, make sure you get a class 10 card. Yes the batterys get cold ect sucks.
But that's every brand.
I find if I leave mine in my pocket for the trail up , one battery just about lasts the hole day.
Makes a big difference not having all that cold air doing mach chicken , wooping up the trail
sent from my HTC

works with the HD 170 (the old orange one) or the HD 170 Stealth (the flat black one). will not work with the smaller Drift HD or the ghostwhen I inquired about the long life battery I was told it did not work for the hd170, that it did not fit, so I bought two extra batteries and that gets me through the whole day. some days only two batteries are needed but most its three batteries. Ill check to see if I can make a long life one work
Just a question,, cause Ive never used one.
When you say you need 3 batteries for a day of riding, how much footage
are you taking? Are you filming the entire day? ie 8hours of riding?
If I wanted to say film an hour or 2 at most on a Gropro Black
would 1 battery be eneogh?
i usually get around 3-4 hours of recording in 1080p @30fps on my black edition. I also picked up 6 off brand batteries with a wall charger for $35 on ebay, and they actually last a little longer than the gopro batteriesJust a question,, cause Ive never used one.

doesn't apple have some sort of video editing program built in? I hear a lot of people say it's awesome. sucks about the cam, but kudos to your dealer! that's pretty kick ass service right thereSo I picked up a drift ghost last Saturday, set it all up and went racing on Sunday. About 30 minutes in...BAM! I smoked it off a tree and killed it dead. Wouldn't even turn back on. Other than a scratch across the face, the unit stayed intact and didn't even break the mount. I took it in to my dealer on Monday and they were good enough to give me a new one.
Now that I have a bunch of video, what's the best program to edit it with?? I'm an apple user. Thanks.
