Yup time to polish up the Browning X-Bolt Varmint Stalker 22-250 heavy barrel topped with a Leupold 6.5-20X56 LRT C/W Varmint hunters Reticle.

I'm also trying out a new type of ammuntion but I am having a small jamming problem. Can anyone help?

I have my weapon picked out:
223, semi auto, uses AR15 mags (which means it can use 10 round mags), scope rail.

Slightly illegal...Max is 5 rounds in canada man...I wouldnt be getting caught with anything more.All you would have in a sling shot if they caught you,,And it is possible to get jail time as well

An ar 15 is for sure,,,not sure about that specifiic one this guy said he has,,But a rifle that uses a centerfire cartridge has a max of 5 shells in a magazine for us canuks..The link he put up says non restricted..

The long clip is likely pinned. You cannot buy them unpinned here, only way to do it is to do it yourself.

anything over a .22LR is overkill for gophers and a waste of money. I can buy 525 rounds for around $25 and those last a LONG time shooting out of a ruger semi-auto with both a 25 and 10 shot clip. Hell I take coyotes down in the winter with a .22.

There exists in Canada a 10 round 223 mag that is "made and approved" for some handgun, and this same mag just happens to fit in AR15s. Putting that mag into an AR15 isn't prohibited/illegal. See the store that sells them's page about them for more info. Guys in the 3gun and action shooting games do this all day long.


The other brilliant issue raised here is that that semi I posted is non-restricted, despite being a semi centerfire rifle. Welcome to the gun game in Canada - know the rules, then find the loopholes.

Ya a handgun can have a 10 shot mag. But a center fire rifle can only legally have a 5 shot mag. When did you take your firearms license ?

The thing that is stupid is an AR 15 is restricted, my mini 14 that is decked out the same way is non restricted. Makes no sense. Both shoot a .556/.223 remington

You are right about the capacity limits, but you are missing the rub: there is no rule against using handgun mags in a rifle. The mag itself is legal. The gun itself is legal. Putting them together is fine. It's like the capacity limit on a gun - it's actually on the magazine, so you can put 10 in a handgun magazine and 1 in the chamber for 11. The rule isn't about the gun holding 11 or 10, it is about the magazine's capacity.

The 10 round mag that is built for the LAR 15 handgun is classified as a handgun mag. This same mag fits the AR 15 semi automatic centerfire rifle and is completely legal to use with 10 rounds while using it in an AR 15 rifle.
