Are you going to be able to go there and back without ever entering a public space? That would be the ideal scenario if anyone is travelling. As soon as we enter a public space we are risking passing something along to others.

Yup.
Should be using disposable rubber gloves to touch pump handles.
Depends how much extra exposure you want as it is impossible to avoid the public once you travel.
Just break down what you actually need to do to go on that "necessary" trip.
Every extra trip at this time involves some amount of extra expasure.
And yes there is a box of disposable gloves in my work and personnel vehicle.
For those of us that are in the reduced survival category it makes us wonder why our lives have less value and the unecssay risks are acceptable for such a short span of our lives.

I haven’t been to my cabin in a month. 595km drive. I have no neighbours this time of year. We would refrain from having guests... Probably go fishing and do yard stuff. Will I be shamed if I go?

It all comes down to if you are increasing the risk of spreading the virus or decreasing the risk by going there. You need to decide. For me, my BC property is more isolated than my Calgary property and I will only stop for fuel when I go. And I will use hand sanitizer after fueling up at the pump. In Calgary I am expected to be at work as it is an essential service. This is way more risk for me, my family and staff. Those that shame you without all the info should not make you change your mind away from the safest option.

Thanks for your reply. It will have to happen eventually, we fuel at cardlock here and usually have over a quarter tank left at Siccy. It’s essential to me, that in times like these, that I protect all my investments. I only paid boat storage til the end of March, as I am usually using it by then, and have no intention of shelling out more money to keep it there when I have three spots for it on my driveways. A garage would be nice but we ain’t going there right now, for certain! I have meat and staples there, and wiuld bring stuff from home as well, so minimal groceries will be required wether I get them here or there. Like you, I feel I can travel safely and continue to distance myself from others to doo what is required, to prevent a spread on the off chance we are carrying the virus. I might go boating and fishing with the people I live with, to break the monotony, if I am even allowed to by the time we decide its time to finally go. Thanks to Jeffafa(Tex78) for always checking my pad for me... For now, we are continuing to homeskool our three like we have now the last few years, they are still thriving and are keeping well ahead of the curriculum schedule. We are doing spring cleaning and generally prepping for an extended stay on the acreage with our new laying hens.

I know this is alot of me me me bullsh!t but boredom is setting in and I am genuinely concerned that I am not part of the problem.

PS- I ran out of Coronas now

So then going to my camp in kakwa will be frowned upon? No restaurants, gas pumps practice social distancing. 2 hour drive into the wilderness.

I get both sides. Stay away from people.... but lock yourself in you basement and have no contact???
We went sledding and ice fishing this weekend. Took our own fuel. Talked to people... at a distance. We talked to lots of people and we stayed 15 to 20 feet away. Lots of people out there still living. Be smart but don't fall into the social media bullshat or what Trudeau wants you to beleive . Most city folk wont understand cuz they lining up for azz wipe!

Whiny bitches? Tell that to all the families who lost people in China and Italy. North America is going to get way worse with stupid people like you not taking this seriously.

Agree to disagree with you entire "everyone who leaves their house is committing multiple homicide" narrative.

I think this applies to pretty much the rest of sledding this year.
If there are people on S&M that know any one in the infectious disease research(working on a vaccine), Dynalife testing, or medical profession (doctors) that are close enough friends to let out what is coming ask them.
I have friends, relatives and friends parents in all three of these areas.
There is a chit storm coming, no maybes and there will be no reduction in severity.
There will only be a reduction in the numbers to treat at one time.

This will not be short term (6 months), this will be a long term repeating issue.

Please do your part and do not be a part of the problem.
Minimize exposure and exposure risks - give as many people as possible the opportunity to live.

When this is over there will be people from this site that will no longer be with us.
Does that help to sink it in?

Where did I say that? We are all going to get this virus sooner or later but isolating will allow health care to keep fighting versus flooding the system all at once.
If you are that selfish and can't spend a couple weeks laying low to help that's sad.

Yet the government keeps asking truckers to haul into towns where it might exist, the virus that is. But then people worry about going to the middle of nowhere riding.
Basically think of it this way...if Trudeau says don't do something, do it...if he says do it, you probably shouldn't because it is a bad idea. Safest place to be away from any chance of getting the virus is out of towns/cities, and into the wilderness.
If some of you can't figure that out for yourselves, and instead think Trudeau knows best, well i can't help you.

You are correct.
Over 1000 fatalities in New York, 201 yesterday.
HSE coordinator has a sister there.
Said it is crazy.
The people that insist in nonessential trips will create the same hell right here.

Maybe we can get this forums name changed to something more accurate. " Don't ride dude " might be a better name.

Not sure what part of staying home you (and some others) can't comprehend. McBride has requested that visitors stay away. They are a small town with an aging population. They don't want someone to come in and spread this virus. I'm sure Valemount is not far behind in requesting the same thing if they already haven't. Each time you stop at the gas station, the restaurants, hotels, B&B's, etc, you could be bringing the virus into those establishments. Those people go home after serving you and have families too that they want to keep safe. And, god forbid, what if you get hurt on the hill....the system is already over taxed...healthcare workers are working their bags off trying to keep in front of this....why add to it? Why take the risk of adding to it?

You might be feeling 100% healthy but you could still be a carrier.....why risk the safety of others? Those people that are working at those businesses you stop at have family's too. Think twice before you go shopping if it's necessary.

Perhaps you are smarter than the 1000's of health care workers and government officials saying this is bad. Perhaps some of you are going to end up in a few months saying "I told you so...no big deal after all...media blew it out of proportion again"....

But what if you're wrong? And the death toll here in Canada starts to rise and rise? Do you want that on your conscience that you may have added to that number because you thought you knew better?

I would rather that we say in a few months that we over-reacted than be sorry that we lost many loved ones because we didn't.

Your Grandparents were called to war....you were asked to sit on the couch....you can do this.....
