Golden this Weekend

Thinking about doing a quick day trip up to Gorman or Silent Pass this weekend. Anyone have any ride reports. Are they still grooming these areas and can you still ride from the parking lots? Or do you have to bash up the trail farther and find a place to get a trailer turned around.

I have ridden these areas once before a few years ago but am by no means a Golden local so any information would be appreciated.

I rode @ Gorman last Sunday, we went all the way back almost to Quartz lake, it was great, lots of fresh. The trail was bumpy, and lots of trail snow left.
Road is pretty good, you stage at the 12 km mark way pas the normal parking lot. There is a smaller lot where you can park and there is plenty of room to turn around, we drove a Jeep Cherokee with a 2 place enclosed and had no issues.

They stopped grooming Gorman and Silent last week (I think) Quartz get groomed untill the 24th. Gorman trail is a little bumpy but it's a lot shorter now that you park at the 12km.

Check the avy site before you go out this weekend it is very warm around these parts right now!

Rode silent pass last weekend and it was +8 up top, trail in wasn't too bad until after the day on the way back. Only about 30 sleds at silent on saturday. Silent got about 18" of fresh friday night, so it was great for saturday's ride. I am thinking about next weekend so PLEASE post some reports of this weekend as I'm missing out due to prior plans arggggg Take care and watch the sun burnt head thing, mine still hurts...... Also got an invite to Valemont this weekend but my plans are screwing me on that trip too SIGH!

Hey ya, you were with the Turbo Nytro right! Yes the young feller did A OK that day, he was pretty beat as well hehe... I was just about back to the truck when my secondary bolt popped out on the trail, stripped and had to get buddy with the doo to tow me the remainder 2 KM lol. Nice hearing from you eh.
