I always loved this part of my drives in BC from growing up there. To coming back all the time now.
It is definately very high.
The old road dropping down the canyon to the river with the 90 at the bottom was always cool.
Sure differnt now with this bridge and rock cut.
I always look down and reminise the old route......

The Black is the old death road....WELL, NOT REALLY A DEATH ROAD...
Just very sporty, curvy and rock falling. snow, etc.

One of my favorites.

She even leans in towards the centre of the bridge when we go over because that view is exactly what she remembers. She just said she was perfectly happy with the old route and now it will be all bridges for the former goat trail east of Golden

I beleive winter will play a major factor on the project.
But that is a very UNEDUCATED guess on my part. Lol. Ha ha
What was it supposed to be?
Fully opened with restrictions?
or without?

Not too sure just heard open dec 01 on the radio few weeks back but I’m sure that’s outdated news now.

I know it’s sideways and a picture of a picture but here’s one from the bridge construction my buddies family took.
I remember heading out there in 04-05. they were clearing the trees on the top of the hill where they blasted so the road can go through such a feat. Ill never understand how some companies can pull things like that off and others can’t make a parking lot flow decent.

Hope it opens up soon, been alot of accidents in the Kootenay park.
Heavy hauler Tow company making big money. Last week said he had 3 calls for rigs in the ditch, one drive fell asleep, one brakes failed other unknown reason.

Good engineers are good! They do amazing things.
Those that aren't good are trying to make a parking lot flow decent!!
