Golden and area conditions 2020-2021

Anybody been up to Chatter recently? Are they shut down for the season yet? How's the road?

Can answer my own questions now: Chatter closed ski ops today. Road in was not as bad as I was expecting. Light was flat so we stayed down lower. It's really busy up there this year. Snow is pretty heavy but it gets better up high. Was snowing pretty good when we left.

That road in can be a PITA. Buddies 2 yrs ago got caught on the wrong side of 2 slides that came down across the road while they were riding. They had to shovel road out twice and finally got back to Golden at 3:30am. They chose not to ride the next day as they were wasted.

What are we looking for? Avalnche path or they drove over the cliff?

Yeah after a hard day riding the last thing ya need is shovelling concrete.

Left bottom pic looks like he would have had to climb a rock face?

No idea what he was doing. Ventured too far right before coming down I suppose. There's a pretty straight shot up on left of the rocks. It was a head scratcher but pretty obvious where it tumbled down from. The picture doesn't do it any justice for how high that drop was.

Pretty self explanatory... if the sun hits the snow for the next 2 or 3 days you’ll be lucky to find anything deeper than 6”. Super heavy wet pow for golden area.

The first 20km is really good the last 10 was horrible on the way out. When you got to the groomer the road was solid mud

Highway is closed now.


snow was great on Saturday and Sunday. With the sun beating on it, snow was pretty mashed potatoes like by end of day. Couple days on sun and it will be hard or slushy.

roads are muddy wet, make sure to have good tires.
