Definitely staying out of Gorman. Haha. Going to see if i can dig up a skimmer before the trip. I think he would have fun just riding around the cabin. We might go to Revvy one day and same thing, just ride around the cabin but would be easier to take the sled up on the skimmer.

Costco has a deadly skimmer around the $200 mark. Made by Pelican. I bought one for the same reason as you.

put the 120 on a skimmer and tow it to the quartz cabin. Then you can base out of there and not spend all day waiting on a sled that can only do 12mph on the trail. Would be a lot more fun of a day for your child.

Thats what I do, works great. Just make sure the 120 is covered or it will be full of snow.

Old grizzled sled vets.....stay away. Newbies.....look at those great climbing slopes! Braaaaaaaap!

Its funny that people seem to think Quartz would be a great place for newbies, but not Gorman. Its the exact same kind of terrain.

Cant even get to the Cabin without crossing some big avy paths...

Well first off there is a cabin, makes a difference

Second, yes all places in Golden have paths to get buy

But quartz you don't have big climbs unless you want and look for them

Just to get anywhere at Gorman from groomed trail end, you have to climb a fair ways to get up to Lake

And family sitting in that path where trail ends is biggest risk of all

Sunday day trip to Quartz was good, still lots of hidden landmines just under the snow but managed to avoid them, trail was in great shape considering how many trucks were in the lot. Snow was decent but a hard crust underneath. Had a good sunny day, spent some of it watching some kids rip around on a pair of ZR200s an Indy evo, an old 380, and dragon, Those kids didn't stop all day, just lovin' it. It was pretty entertaining to watch.

Has any one been up to Hope Creek lately? Are they still logging? It’s been a while since I have been up there what KM mark do you go in at?
