Going to be new to chilliwack

I will guarantee Im in Lloyd more often than you, way more than Id like to be but I have family in Saskatchewan so I go through there a lot and the fact you think Lloyd is a better place to live than Chilliwack just goes to show how little time you have spent there. Unless your a farmer or work at that Husky plant I see no reason why someone would want to live there. I couldn't even imagine saying that Id prefer to live in Lloyd over Chilliwack, its just absurd. I turned down a great job right outta college at that Husky plant just so I didnt have to live in Lloyd, took a lesser job for a short term. As for culture shock Ive been from one coast to the other and Canadians are Canadians, everywhere is basically the same so far as culture. Not like he's moving to Cambodia

Reading your message makes me wonder if its not me who need to get out of their bubble. My fathers side of the family is from the Lloyd area, still have family in the region, out that way reasonably often, lived in Chilliwack for 10 years, also have friends and family in that area as well, pass through fairly regularly, and yup, it would be naive to think there wont be a major culture shock. The 2 areas are like night and day. For each their own.

My original comment is that they will experience a great culture shock from Lloyd to Chilliwack and I stand by that. I have never actually said one is better than the other, but they are dramatically different. Each has their pro's and con's and people in each area will love and hate things about both, but rest assured, they are dramatically different areas to live. So far all the pro's posted about Chilliwack are for things .............................. away from Chilliwack.

My wife is accepting a position in chilliwack. My dreams of living in BC to sled all winter are finally coming true, however I have a few questions. Where does a guy ride around chilliwack, we r from Lloydminster and typically ride almost anywhere from revy, cranbrooke, fairmont, radium, golden, vale, blue and to mcbride.
are there any good clubs I can join to help out with ?, and good honey holes someone want to tell me about?
and as for the town itself, what about living? Is hope to far to travel, we need at least a 3 bedroom place for the kids, I will be looking to rent something till my house sells before I buy, anyone have connections for a place ?, how is the snow around there, how far do u need to go to find ok riding areas,
i can't wait to move to BC, thanks in advance

Well ill be the best to hear from since i grew up in chilliwack then had moved to grande prairie for 9 years and now back in chilliwack for 2. There is definalty pros and cons to being in the fraser valley.The fraser valley is really busy these days. Yes theres crime but hey there was shootings in gp also. Lots of homeless and junkies down town chilliwack. Like said before you want to be on the south side of highway or north side of the fraser river (agassiz, harrison hot springs, harrison mills) all beautiful places. Would not recommend buying up on promontory (huge suvdivison on the mtn, two roads in and out) rats race up there.Hope youre getting a job in chilliwack also as you dont want to be commuting into the city (i did from harrison to langley for a year, was brutal!) Now work in chilliwack. The hardest i find being back is the housing market (its slowing down but prices are stupid!) Its busy in the fraser valley (chilliwack not as bad but anything south west good luck) and of the course the crack heads, crazy how bad it is now. I think the pros of being down here out weigh the cons. Sledding is epic and super easy to do.So many areas to choose from. The coq is a great place to ride. Mt cheam in town is small be not alot of traffic up there.( i can look down and see if i left my lights on in my house haha) Alot of ppl in chilliwack spend there time out doors, fishing, biking, hiking, boating, dirtbiking, quadding, jeeping. Youll see more four runners and jeeps then youve ever have and alot less of lifted 1tonne diesels snorting around town lol. Lots of rain but that only means snow up!.
