ok well since we are on the topic of goggles i have a question i never got to the bottom of last year. i would love to know what color lense people are having luck seeing on overcast/ white-out conditions????? i know yellow is an abvious choice but it only works when there is something to break up the color ie: trees, but i am on a mission this year to find the answer to this riddle. if anybody has messed around with this i would like to know the ressults

A couple of years ago we were riding in the Humboldt area and it was a low light day. I had a set of goggles with a blue tint lens in them.....they were okay. Last year I rode with a photochromatic lens. This was all before we became involved with Habervision.

Reds and vermillions tend to provide the best contrast in low light conditions. It also preserves your night vision by preventing the bleaching of “rhodopsin” a pigment located amongst the rods and cones on your retina. Another broad spectrum color is the optic orange, this color balances a need for low light perception and bright light glare blocking. Haber mates a high contrast orange color with Tri-Oxide™ rainbow blue flash coatings and polarization to produce a lens with a broad performance spectrum. Optic Orange™ delivers unbelievable performance in flat light or bright light.

This year I will be riding with the Rivas optic orange and the other half of this team will be riding with the Primas with the orange lens as well.
We generally ride with a couple pairs of goggles one with a tinted lens and one with a clear lens for the few occasions we get caught out when it gets dark.

I'm usuing the Scott pro-air's, they work great. I have also used Oakley o frames which are ok( the highintensity lens is killer on cloudy days), and some ANON goggels which suck. I always ride with a few spare pairs of goggles, just in case....

Best google I've used (and am still using) are Zeal. Look em up on the net. They are light sensitive, polarized, and have not fogged up once in 3 yrs, various snow conditions. I've no less then 15 pairs of different goggles (Spy, Scott, Oakley, Smith, etc), and the Zeals are worn all the time unless it is dark or whiteout conditions. At those times I usually wear Spy or Pro-Grips with a rose lens. But the best (not cheap) goggle I have worn are Zeals, hands down.

Right on!! Thank you! If you are using the optical insert in the Ouzo's you will need to take the center post right out.

Take care

Going to Blue River!! Never been there before, won the 2 night stay for 2 at Glacier Mtn Lodge, should be a perfect time to try out the Eliminator!

Wow Jay that's really cool! You will be staying with Lexy and company. What kind of goggle did you fit your Eliminator into?

All helmets fit differently. I have noticed that they do prescribe to two basic head styles either an oval type fit or a round fit. I wear the round fit and all my family does except my oldest daughter. Since you haven't purchased either helmet or goggle yet I suggest you start with one and try various kinds of the other product to match. For example if you start by purchasing the goggles then take them with you when you are looking for a helmet to see how they fit into the helmet opening. I would definitely do this with an OTG goggle because for example the Ouzo has a very wide field of vision and you want to make sure you are getting a good fit into the helmet opening. When you are looking for helmets take your time and try several on they all fit a bit different.

Here are a couple of tips to help your Eliminator work to it's full potential.

1) Set it on automatic right from the get go. This way it is working on a consistent basis keeping the humidity in check at all times.

2) If you are having trouble with batteries switch to a lithium. The Eliminator comes with a alkaline based battery these are good to about -20 degrees and as it gets colder they will start to wear down whereas with a lithium they will give you a consistent power supply until they are dead. A lithium battery will also not freeze.

Where are you guys going BD? What kind of helmet are you fitting those goggles into?

We're heading for McBride next Thursday.Lots of deep powder there. The helmet I got them in is a Scorpion VX 14.Looks the same as the one I put in the classifieds. They seem to fit well but I don't have the breath deflector in the helmet yet.
