Just came back from a weekend of camping in Burnt Timber and just befopre I left I took a ride past a couple of sites where there was extensive partying all weekend and both sites were covered in beer cans, garbage old coolers and anything they could throw out of their vehicles. It is getting to be a bit of a pain in the @## when you have clean up after these people. It seems everytime we go out there now (pretty well every weekend) we seem to have to clean up a mess before we can camp or before we go home. My family has been camping and quading in this area for the past 8 years and every year it seems to get worse. I know there is more and more people out there but come on can you not clean up after yourselves???

That is my rant thanks for listening!!!!!

Thats bad its just down to respect at the end off the day. You have to treat these places like you house or yard you would not do it at home so dont do it camping. It would be good to find these people and and put it all back on there front lawn. Respect to you for cleaning the mess up.

When we were laying out our ATV ride in Rocky, we firstly went close to a bunch of campers who were all quadders and dirtbikers they had a big camp set up in the bush. On the Sunday we drove by there and there was no campers but a large pile of garbage, broken chairs, garbage, and bottles. So when you leave a pile that will fill a half of a pickup truck who do you think picks it up? This is the BS that is causing the issues that we are working hard to keep our area's open. I hope the people that leave garbage behind feel bad because who picks your mess up. We have to. Think about this next time you leave your campsite and how cool you are because you left your garbage behind.
And if you did this and your reading this You better feel ashamed

The last few times I have been out camping, I take a slow ride past the other campers in the area that I am camped. I write down vehicle licence plate numbers and a brief description of the vehicles. If there is a lot of garbage left behind or other problems, I have information to pass on to the authorities.
Some peoples attitudes towards this kind of things upsets me.

Yes, but have you seen the some people's yards or houses?????? Just sayin'.......

I see it LOTS around where I live and I'm not sure if these people have absolutely zero concept of what happens to the garbage after they leave or they really just do not give a chit!

I still wonder when all these people leave on Sunday afternoon and they make a big pile of garbage and just leave it. Who do they think will pick it up. The bears? They need to give there head a shake and start thinking. Out of a group of 8-10 peeps someone must have some remorse here or maybe not.:nono:

I went to a site last weekend for a night of camping. It's a lake close to home, that we enjoy fishing at. There are two firepits 200 metres from the parking lot. While waiting for some friends to show, I noticed several used disposable diapers thrown into the bushes. There was one family that was camping in the parking lot, as they had brought a truck box camper and such. I hate to point fingers, but if you have a kid in diapers, and are staying in the area, and I haven't seen diapers the last tuesday I was down there (the tuesday before the weekend in question) I am going to assume it's you, and likely be right.

They wouldn't admit it, but I have my suspicions. Also, I understand that your life should not have to stop just because you are towing around a young child, but it was your choice to have the child, it is your RESPONSIBILITY to clean up after them.

This was one of the times I wish I was more confrontational.

My wife had mentioned that she was going to start taking pictures of vehicles and writing down plate numbers and after this past weekend I have to agree with her, it is a great idea

This topic ticks me off because this issue may ruin the quading and camping in my area. WHY CAN PEOPLE PACK OUT WHAT THEY PACK IN!!!!???
I was going to start another thread about this but I don't think i's necessary considering this Is one of the topics.

I read this in the edson paper today:
Yellowhead County Council has directed administration to draft legislation to stamp out random camping on county land.

Council reviewed a complaint from a landowner in Cadomin during a committee of the whole meeting in Edson on August 16.

The Cadomin resident, who lives adjacent to the county-owned land said random camping has increased over the last few years and has not only become a noise problem but also a mess, as the campers often leave the site untidy.

"There was 20 units or more the day I drove by there," said County Chief Administrative Officer Jack Ramme.

He said, when drafting a bylaw council should make it clear that there would be exceptions to the random camping rule.

"We don't discourage it during [Cadomin] Homecoming because there's a lot of tents."

Ramme said council could make random camping illegal on all county land within hamlets or consider turning the county land in Cadomin into a campground. Division 1 – Evansburg and Area Coun. George Webster wasn't in favour of the latter.

"That won't make our neighbour very happy."

Mayor Gerald Soroka said if the county was going to put a restriction on random camping it should be countywide, not just in the hamlets.

Division 8 – Hinton/Cadomin/Robb Coun. Lavone Olson said the random camping problem is getting so bad in Cadomin that it's driving residents away.

"Residents tell me they leave on weekends because they can't stand the noise, and that's wrong because that's their home."

Division 4 – Shiningbank/Peers Area Coun. Larry Richter said the county bylaw enforcement officer can only enforce noise and booze complaints now, but he'd like to see their mandate expanded to include random camping.

"We'll investigate and bring back a bylaw," Ramme said.

He added under such a bylaw random camping would be allowed but only if sanctioned groups get permission from council, for example, for special events.

During committee of the whole meetings council can discuss issues at length and make recommendations, however decisions can generally only be made during regular council meetings.

I've taken pictures of licence plates before only to followed by 3 cars full of little $h*theads (who are only out there because it's free and can get away with the mess) looking for a fight. I've been thinking some sort of back country user fee may help $100 a truck for the year includes the bikes, sleds, quads they carry out, would probably help keep the retards who only go to party and wreck stuff away maybe pay for an extra officer or two to actually do something about this problem. but it seems the government would rather group us all together and shut it all down

Just wanted to say the other week when we quadded Ruby Falls, I hardly had to pack any garbage out of the bush, unfortunatley the fire pit we used was full of garbage, but we cleaned it up and took it home in the bag with us, proud to show my kids how to keep the riding areas clean.
