U mean a mod sled isnt a wrap and bars? Lol man i loved the done up revs
Not in the them days. That one had a Polaris cfi in it a home built aero 66 in it. Not much of it was skidoo out side of the chaincase steering post and s and e modules. Took him most of a summer to build when he was 20 something. We used to have a lot more time before kids and wives haha

Hard to tell from the pic, but it looks like the case survives when the sprocket goes.

Thats a plus i guess.

Any one have a picture of them two gears sitting side by side. G4 bottom gear vs G5 Generally if you’re having issues from the chain being loose. The chain is usually the culprit with broken links and then coming in half. The gears don’t usually get damage till that chain end up pilled between the case and gears.

Why do they not make it gear driven, and eliminate the chain entirely.

How many plates are in your chain? Are they thicker and 11W?

That style of sprocket on the right has been used since the 2021 turbo.

Look up the Arctic Cat Diamond Drive. It's been done with mixed success.

My opinion is it's a cost and complexity issue. Gears are expensive to produce. You need multiple ratios. They're heavy. Multiple bearings and a complex case. Ultimately gears could be more efficient and reliable than a chain, but likely negligible gains outweighed by the negatives.
There's nothing wrong with a chain system for this application. It's just undersized/rated for these sleds and there may be a qc issue at play as well.

Gear to gear like a transmission should beat a chain any day.

Nope it would not.

There is a reason transfer cases have a hyvo chain in them.

Some of the strongest tcases ever built are gear driven.

The np205 is very popular for off-road aplications that sees a lot of abuse.

Agreed but at a weight penalty, doesn’t matter when it’s behind a big V-8 engine.

Remember cats diamond drive that quickly abandoned.

Ya not saying its good in.a snowmobile.

Just need the beefier chain and sprocket and the problem will be gone i think. And maybe a one piece shaft

I did all of that to my sled. Hyvo, new 2022 1 piece shaft, If my case blows up than there is definitely a parts quality issue.

That I am not sure it’s LB 537 I think stamped on the side I forgot to count and take a good picture when I swapped drivers and bottom gear.
