Not sure what the Alpha will burn but an injection system should be in the 50-60:1 range?

25:1 is just insanely brutal.
My old Husky 61 runs on a 32:1 premix!
Same piston since 1986 after about 12 chains and two bars.........4 stroke reliability!!
lol

i rode with 4-2018 mountain cats all season.all 4 cats would use less oil combined than my 850

2018 mountain this winter 37 litres of gas 270 ml's oil.

That's about 135:1, you gonna make the doo guys cry.

If you include extra oil, gas, and belts needed (for an average belt burner not a bad one) for your average Renshaw 130km day it will cost you about $45/day more to run a doo.
Hmmmm..........think cancelling my 19 doo and getting the Alpha was the right choice!
Come on reliability, be there!!!

I don't think anyone wants a sled that runs a ratio like that. That's brutally low. If that true then one more trip downhill at idle and pretty sure the motor will blow. Lol

Hey snopro you must know what ratio is within Doo’s acceptable range? Obviously 5:1 is too high and 100:1 is too low. What does Doo recommend for an acceptable range?

Obviously throttle position has a huge impact on oil and fuel consumption, but I think over the years the average guy probably pulls off a 40:1 most of the time?

I do understand the throttle will increase your oil consumption but I have not seen anyone with an 850 say they are getting 40:1. I am seeing guys reporting 18:1 to about 25:1 which I consider to be terrible. If I buy a new 850 and it’s averaging 25:1 fuel/oil ratio will Doo consider this a problem and adjust it or am I just stuck with an overly large oil bill?

Last fall when I bought my Mountain Cat, I bought two cases of CTec oil becasue it was on sale. Each case is 5 x 1.4 liter/48oz bags of oil. Just over 1000km on the sled, 3 bags emptied and oil reservoir is full. No idea how much fuel I burned as I didn’t keep track but I figure that is still pretty good. Oh, and still on first belt and it looks new.:d Anyone got figures for Polaris? How our they for consumption?
