With the high quality gas we buy these days not lasting very long, I run stabil and what ever level the tank is at. At the start of next season, I siphon out the tank and dump in truck.
Fogging is a good idea especially if the sled sits outside under a tarp. They sweat alot with the weather, hot/cold/rain/bake. But if you do fog, don't start the machine up, it will burn all the oil out and defeat the purpose of the fogging oil.
I usually fog my motors but with the new EFI, didn't know how, so I just started her up couple time during the off season. During the summer, it's parked in a nice warm garage, so not subject to the weather conditions.
With all that said, I have friends that do absolutly nothing when storing the toys, and they seem to run fine the next season.

I make a habit of starting our machines once every couple months thru the off season, let them run till they are warm, then shut them down, this makes sure the fuel is still flowing and doesn't give them a chance to "gum up".

Sea Foam is also as Mike has said an awesome treatment for fuel systems.

Russ and I treat that like Frank's hot sauce.;"I put that chit in everything!" STP has a conditioner sitting on the shelf right beside the seafoam,exact same bottle,just a little cheaper.I think it may be the same stuff,just with a different label.
that stuffs hard to find around Spruce Grove, I think Rusty buys it all soon as it comes into the stores!!!!!

sorry to highjack this thread, but how many of you fog your motor ???

the sled shops here tell me to just use fuel stabilizer with a full-ish tank of gas and job done.
If you don't fog it's a good idea to start and run it monthly to lube the crank bearings and keep the moisture out of them.

I drain the tanks down and start them once or so a month. Grease it all etc

Done this For years and years, use sea foam in the tank, run it to hot...

Never drained the gas, try to start and run it once and a while through the summer

Never once had a issue with bad gas ect

Sea foam is the bestest stuff ever

sent while I should be drinking tea's

NAPA stores usually have it as well. One of our local parts stores keeps a healthy stock of it in the cans and also in 1 gallon jugs. Lonestar Automotive.

I siphon the fuel down to 1/4 or less for use in the summer toys and add stabilizer if I have enough, run till temps are up. shut down. I restart sled few times a summer for the memories/smell, move the liquids etc and give the battery a bit of zing. No more water skipping since the last time when my plunger hung up in the carb and the throttle cable came loose off the back of the throttle. Whats the chances one would say, pretty good actually

One point I dont think anyone touched on is C-cans. If you store your sled in a c can through summer make sure you put on a whirly bird on the roof and fog your engine as c cans are horrible on engines. They seem to get very muggy. Rings will rust amazingly fast in a c can. I have seen it first hand.

Thanks for all the ideas and hints. Got the seafoam and foggin oil. It will be a sad and long putting the machies away for the summer.

Another point-grease your suspension generously as this will force any moisture out.
