This is the thread where I have pics of my cracked bulkhead....they are warrantying it right from Cat, just needed pics. If you got the extended warranty they will look after you!!

I have cat care warranty on my 2010
I have pics of a cracked weld in my bulkhead. NO WARRANTY.

I have a broken oediker clamp under the tunnel. I in the process of repairing. I Need to pull the fuel tank, rear skid, Track, One coil, and the whole side coolant rail. And circulate the coolant system. NO WARRANTY. What gives already.

That SUCKS....we have a pretty good dealer here, looks after his customers and tries to keep the Cat people happy....it's a big job, the whole sled has to be stripped, and Cat quoted about 23hrs to do the job....we do have to pay some out of our pocket for the labour but the bulkhead is covered.....

23hrs????? holy crap, it took me and my buddies 2 hours with a 24 of bud to get her fixed....had to fix mine twice, cause the first one was kind of a shotty job. best solution is too fab a plate that goes all the way back to the tank. then drill holes out for the coil and bolt them through it. mine has seen some serious impacts with the sled cartwheeling and ending up track up...still holding good....make sure to locktite that nut on the bottom of the steering post though, mine was 1 thread from coming off once and i noticed it after sidehilling above a big cliff.....would have been a hoarders yardsale if she let go there let me tell you.....

It may seem like alot of hours, but they have to completely strip my sled to take the old bulkhead out. This isn't just a patch job.....I get a whole NEW bulkhead ($2500 part) and most of the labour is covered. The 4 yr warranty that came with my Cat was definitely worth it.....

This problem seems to be be quite common on the M-series.....lots of cracks near the steering post, but mine is cracked on the exhaust side.

Why should you have to pay anything??? Does your warranty come with a deductible or something?

The warranty is a $50 deductible, but Cat will only cover 17 hrs of labour. The rest we have to come up with, but the shop is giving us a reduced rate. It's better than getting NO WARRANTY at all, which happens in a lot of these cases!! I'm happy to pay it for a new bulkhead.

I had a crack on my bulkhead right where the steering post mounts and the cat dealer replaced the whole chassis, tunnel and all. I thought that was good of them.

oh, i see.....i got screwed, had a huge mishap last season. smashed a rock and ruined everything from the tunnel forward.....so i ended up with a used bulkhead. dealer forgot to tell me that the used bulkhead voided the warranty....so within two weeks i had the same problem.....mine was just a patch job....

I'm confused. Why will Cat only cover 17 hrs on a 23 hr job? First off, why is the job 23 hrs? Seems like a 2 day job, even if it takes you a full day to tear down a sled? I can gut mine in 3 hrs. not sure why it takes 3 days to strip a Cat and replace the bulkhead, just helped replace the RH side of the bulkhead on an Apex and it took less time than that and its WAY more complicated.

Sorry, just not understanding why you have a warranty but you're paying to replace parts? It's not really a warranty then. Sounds like a BRP warranty....:D

Modman....if you go up and read Destoyer's post he has a 2010 and NO WARRANTY.
I don't really care how long it takes our dealership to do the job, I'm getting mostof the labour covered and a brand new part. I am happy with their decision, and that's all that really matters...
I was only trying to help by posting what my dealership was doing for me, and I wasn't looking to get into any argument over how long the keyboard jockeys on here could do the job??:confused::confused::confused::confused: OVER AN OUT!!

wow, no need to yell about it.........just asked a question because it seems weird to me to have warranty and still be paying, could really do without the name calling about who's a keyboard jockey.

Ya, i know lots of guys with 2010's and no warranty, brought sleds up from the US, so SOL here in Canada. Guess it seemed high to me and was just trying to help out a fellow sledder....IMO warranty covers all. Maybe we didn't get the full story though. Thanks anyway I guess, will keep my mouth shut next time.

In an ideal world all dealerships would honor warranty....but I have heard of new sleds bought right here in Canada where dealers didn't honor the warranty!! Every dealer is different, and that's what I was getting at.

I apologize for throwing the "keyboard jockey" moniker out there, but there seems to be alot of that going on in this forum, but everyone has the right to their own opinion.

You got the full story, there is nothing more, nothing less. I hope we can leave it at that. :aim_sorry:
