Ford Atlas concept, your thoughts?

I somewhat agree with this. Toyota has possibly the best truck in the world, in the Hilux, but they don't bring it to North America. It's basically the Tacoma here, but more capable and not quite as big. The Tundra needs an update to see what Toyota will do with the half ton market. Nissan, well it's Nissan and I wouldn't touch them, they just have such a terrible resale value. For some reason they think the horn honking when the correct tire pressure has been reached in innovation. It's just way to difficult to look at the gauge on the hose in your hands I guess...
I was a GM guy until the crash in 2008 and they took a massive handout. I honestly think Ford has turned around as a company because they didn't take a handout.

Have to agree, really admire ford for their ability to stay afloat

I love concepts and am often disappointed when the real version of the vehicle comes out. I like the over the edge designs.
Its all good for all manufacturers to keep pushing the envelope. I like Ford for all the new ideas they have. The engine program they have now is amazing and they are doing fantastic things, raise the bar!!! Dodge I think is cool for all their retro designs. From the big three I think they are closer to getting it right than the Mustang and the Camaro for example. But you can't ride on the coat tails for two long. Sure the Hemi sells but time to move on and make it even better. GM and Chev to me make a killer "tough" truck. With the new frames they have now. I've watched some extreme speed bump tests and flex tests and the Ford and Dodge buckled the tail gates !!
We just bought a new 2013 equinox (after my wife totaled her car) and it's got some pretty cool bells and whistles. Tells you if the car in front is stopping at a fast rate and warns you, tells you if you are leaving the lane if you do not signal. Some pretty cool stuff coming out. I'll be at the dealer in October to purchase the new 2014 2500 HD . I cant wait. Looks like they have the same touch screen as the Equinox now has. I thank Ford for that as I believe they were the first to main stream this in vehicles... i could be wrong....

I've heard that the Altas is essentially ready for production, but needs changes to the Headlight and Taillights to make them DOT compliant. I hope they don't change the fact they are LED, as that will last longer and be brighter than HID lights. I think Ford started the Retro muscle car thing with the Mustang in 2005, and the cars that have followed are pretty good. Dodge wasted the Charger name on the new charger, but I do like the taillights on the current one. The Challenger, they absolutely nailed. I really like Ford's current Mustang though. It pays homage to the retro Ponys while still moving forward with design.
I'm not sure about the European cars, but I have a touch screen in my 2007 F150 and it's awesome. It's better and easier to use that some high end BMW, Merc, and Audis I have been in. The Ford Sync system raised the bar so far, I have yet to see a system that comes close to it, in terms of functionality and ease of use. You would likely be better off buying a 2013 in July or December (when the best sales are on), because I don't think the HD version of the Silverado is going to be any different from the 2013. HD trucks usually trail the half ton model year by a year or two. If we haven't seen an updated 2014 HD yet, it is likely the same as the 2013.

Yes Fords Sync system (i didn't know the name of it) has set the bar forsure.

The 2014 HD I'm told will be out in the fall. The 1/2 ton will be out in the spring.... so I've been told by the salesman I just bought our Equinox off of.

I'm looking forward to the 6.2 gas engine! If it performs as well as the little V6 in the Equinox with the direct injection its going to be a monster. The new 6.2 is also going to have active fuel managment finally the big engine gets it. We will see if it helps any on flat land in Alberta. It makes a big difference in BC when you can glid down hills on half the cylinders (Dads 2007 truck has it 5.3L). If it can kick the 4 cylinders out on flat land they will have something.

One thing I am jealous about in the Fords and not sure about the Dodges is the storage compartments inside the cab. My neighbors F350 has LOADS of neat storage inside the cab some of it even lockable.

Not much of a change to the exterior, more of a change inside on the new GMC.

Ahhhh, I figured we would have seen something from the HDs as well as autoshows if they were coming out. I love my 6'6" box on my crew cab F-150. I never understood why the other companies didn't allow that on the crew cab trucks.

Well I hope he's right cause my 2010 is due to go back in the fall.
Ikr. A 4 door cab to fit the family but you cant pull your fifth wheel trailer... DUH. Finally they got it right.

Eco-boost was meant to replace the ranger.

They have done way more with Eco-boost than replace the Ranger, which I think is great. Is this the last year of the Ranger? I noticed on the Ford website they are promoting that you can get a F-150 for less than a Ranger, so they are certainly pushing it out. I knew they were thinking of stopping production of it, just didn't see when.

They have been trying to get rid of the ranger since the new ford motors came out, but so many people want that 1/4 ton truck and the ranger has a loyal fan base. I think it will be gone soon enough.

I'm sure something like that would be an option. I'm sure 95% of the Ford Raptors out there have never seen anything but pavement and maybe the odd gravel road here and there, even though it was designed to withstand the Baja 1000.

I would never own a ranger or any other 1/4 ton because I think they are a joke but driven one and hated it.
