So I'm looking for a newer truck, im undecided between a '08 ford F-350 king ranch and a '08 dodge 3500 Laramie... Anyone have some input? Mostly used for towing heavy loads, I work in harsh cold winter conditions so it must be reliable for that... Also how is the fuel milage on both these units? The dealers can't give me any info on this because it varies so much with towing and stuff.

Speaking as mainly a ford lover. Don't go with the ford. Not a 08 anyways. The dodge would pull better anyways. Personal experience.

Pretty hard to beat a Cummins! Haven't heard many good reports on mileage on any of the new diesels compared to the pre-emissions regs models though.

6.4 = Boat Anchor

6.7 = Awesome engine but with all that emissions crap on it your mileage is going to suck.

I will say though that if i could have a cummins in a ford frame i'd go for it. But engine and pulling wise cummins all the way

one thing about the Cummins... they never warm up... or at least the older ones never do.

Friend of mine is a manager for Freedom ford service. He says the 6.4 is a good build, Sans the MPG/.

The ad on which truck the dodge with the stick shift? The rating is in the truck brochure, the rating used to be 325hp and 610ftlbs if tq. The rating for the stick or 2012 is 350HP and 610ft lbs of tq. Kind of crappy since the auto get 800ft lbs of tq. Yah gotta read the fine print.

I have the 6.7 all stock. Tows the toyhauler no problem. Park in a attached garage and no smell or anything. I prefer it all stock because I don't enjoy the stink and smoke from the diesel. Rather have it meet emissions.

The 6.4 with deletes and programmer hauls ass, gets good mileage, and have a very stout trans. That said reliability is a bit better than the 6.0L but not a ton. They are very complicated and cramped so doing much work yourself if it needs it is pretty much a no go as it is another cab off unit.

both are great trucks, have firends with the dodges they like them and have had good luck with reliabilty. the ford is way nicer in the interior and will be a smoother, quieter ride both trucks in stock form get horible mileage,12-17 empty 9-13 loaded but will pull just about any load you want, i had a 08 6.4 and now a 10 6.4 but i take all the emmisions crap off the truck and have had very good luck with reliability and mileage 19-22 empty 12-15 loaded. im a ford guy but if i was looking again id really start to concider the new dodges they have come along way in interior.
