The club started this venture in 2009 trying to acquire a plot of land from the Federal Government on a Dominion Government Block or the private land of Tembec Inc. We acquired a lease from Natural Resources Canada and the fun began. Access was restricted due to the fact that we are 400m from the main FSR.

Pictures and stories will be added to the thread as we go along with the first couple of pictures being "the hunt" for a suitable location to fit our needs; family outings, search and rescue base, easy access with the SnowCat, and an emergency shelter for the inevitable happenings of an enjoyable winter recreation.

Construction started in the fall of 2011 with the placement of the treated cedar piles. Plain and simple, we ran out of weather and had to put everything on hold for the summer of 2012.

A great big thank you to Snowandmud.com for generously donating the proceeds from Mountain Mania V for our venture. That donation will go towards either the wood stove or the stainless steel drying tower.

Labour and other donations would be greatly appreciated and acknowledged as we continue with the construction process. We plan to have this shelter operational for this upcoming winter of 2012-13.

If you keep doing all this great work down there you will have to tripple the parking lot size. It already needs to be double the size!

Great work though. Looking forward to getting out for a ride with you this winter.

We enjoyed being able to help - amazing how much can be completed in one day with a few extra hands! Great work on the roof, you guys really put that up fast!

That Mountain Mania money is going to a good project. The members that attended the event will be pleased to see where their money is going. Good Job Doug and crew your volunteer work is appreciated.

Cabin looks really good FS. Is there anything you guys can use for materials/donations still? I know labour is always the hardest thing to find (atleast in our clubs in Sask) and I can't offer that from here.

I was hoping to help out with one of these projects.
Unfortunately, I had to help move my wife's great aunt to a seniors facility. She's lived in the same house for 42 years which tends to fill a house. I'm hoping we're done in the next couple fo weeks and I can help with the next phase.

Sorry to hear about your dilemma. Any time you have some available time you can PM me I will let you know about the work schedule.

Thanks Geoff. Whatever you wanted to donate would be appreciated I'm sure. That would put your name on the "Contributor'S List" that will be proudly displayed in the cabin this and subsequent winters.
