So what is the best spot that is within a 45 minutes of Fernie to ride with some elevation?
7,000'ish to let the turbos work?

HAHA like nowhere. Most of Fernie is 4,500-6,000, above the cabin, the ridge is 6,500. The saddle in Harvey is about 7,200 but they got rain at the bottom 1/3 so the road in is going to be ch!t the whole way. Not sure how far back they have plowed it this year either.

Randy you made a tactical error. Probably the worst conditions in 20 years there. Not going to find a lot to challenge you at The Rolling Hills. Maybe Corbin?

Boost still humming along.
Sore arms every day.
Lots of area had no tracks, think there was a dump Tuesda/Wednesday.i think.

Day-tripped it yesterday, surprisingly few people out but I suppose that's because they wore themselves out bombing the place Saturday.
Found decent snow, had to be careful of landmines but had a good time.

As much as I'd like to keep traffic low to make the snow last longer, there is an incredible amount of bad info being given out.
As long as you aren't afraid to risk a few tree scuffs getting to it, there is still a pile of really good snow out there. Much of which is literally a stones throw from the Rolling Hills cabin.
40 kms's from either Corbin or Morrisey staging areas will give more than enough options to stretch a turbos legs, but again- don't be afraid to not follow the beatin path

It has been like that for quite a few years now. People in general are afraid of the trees because all of a sudden they seem to have legs and get in the way.

Took a Green Rider out Saturday and Sunday. Played in logging areas Saturday to build some confidence. Risked a few tree scuffs Sunday after how well the new rider progressed. It was a very good weekend.

Looking to come to fernie next week and wondering what this warm weather is going to do to access and what I should plan for, Any ride reports would be much appreciated also.

Not sure what's it's like now as I think they've had snow since, but was out there on the weekend of the 6th and Morrissey lot and trail were pretty bare down low. Coal creek was better as far as snow coverage. Snow was pretty awesome up top though.

Parking lot is gravel. Trail from the booth is fully snow covered. Coal creek detour over that hump/ hill is 300 feet of complete boulders and rocks Everywhere else on the way up was great Haven’t been to Morrissey in a month but even if it’s whooped up from staging it may be a better option That detour hill would only take 30 mins with a skid-steer with some snow to cover the boulders and it would be good to go from coal creek

Now that weekend riders are done what were the conditions at Coal Creek? We are heading there tomorrow to ride Tuesday and Wednesday. Is there enough room for an enclosed trailer at the staging area?

From the FSA FB page this am. There is good snow if you go look for it, higher elevations and shaded zones are the best bets for pow.

Trail Saturday from Coal Creek was just awful and it looks like they also didn’t groom Saturday night. Recommend verifying that things got groomed before heading up.

WHOOPS! Our main grooming operator is out for the season due to illness and our backup volunteer operator scheduled for Saturday night's groom had a family emergency at the last minute and could not groom (the backup to the backup was also away working their regular job). Sorry for the bumpy ride yesterday folks! We've got someone headed out today to clean up the trail.

This was the first missed groom of the season and we're disappointed it broke our near-perfect record this year but is the unfortunate reality of a volunteer-led organization that has had the same 5 people shouldering the workload over the past few years. Yesterday's trail conditions were a pretty good reminder of what every day on the trails in Fernie would look like without the efforts of the club. Not to rub salt in the wound but folks, we need more volunteers to step up and get engaged or that is the reality of what next year could look like. If not you, then who?

This has been an incredibly challenging year; fall floods wiping out bridges and trails, a late start to winter, over $100k spent rebuilding snowmobile access for public, new negotiations with industry, government and landowners for the modified access, a new snowcat and everything that comes with that, COVID... the team is exhausted. We would like to thank everyone for your patience and understanding as we work through all the difficulties this year. We are as passionate about sledding as you are and are doing our best out there.

Yes lots of room for enclosed trailer. Trail in is terrible!! But if you get over that part snow up top in untracked trees is pretty good...
