I think this year is the year I finally cave and start riding with my prescription glasses. I'm not blind by any stretch but I would like my vision to be as good as it can (especially in the lower light situations).
Contacts aren't really an option for me (I hate them) so I am going to try my hand at OTG (over the glasses) goggle systems. Now, I already own Smith I/OX goggles which are pretty great and fit over my specs with relative comfort. While they rarely fog up themselves, I am sure my glasses will be another story. Has anyone tried running the 509 fan system with any success? I'm 99% sure the 509 fans are actually made by a company called Haber.

Any suggestions for spare goggles that fit OTG? Preferably something with a rose/yellow lens that I can use in lower light conditions when my SMITH's are too dark.

I wear glasses and have tried everything other than Lasik. IMHO, there is no easy solution and in some conditions there is nothing that works. You just have to find the best for you. I have tried the fans, heated goggles, and contacts. The heated googles keep the goggles clear but not the glasses. The coloured lenses are great for definition but if your glasses are fogged, they are useless. The fans work but not in the extreme conditions. It is a pita.

Right now, I have found the CFX helmet (their goggles are junk) with the mouth/nose piece out works pretty good on most days. Days with rain, wet snow, and high humidity are always a challenge for the glasses wearer. Good luck.

Smith IOX goggles have a mount for a prescription insert. Buddy has them and they work great.

I wear 1 contact in my strongest eye.
Asked the eye surgeon if there was any issues doing that and he said no problem your eyes will adjust very quickly to the difference.
That way i can see stuff close up and far away.
I use the throw away contacts so as soon as i get back to the truck i pull it out and chuck it so no need to carry around the contact holders and solution.

That doesn't mess with your depth perception at all?

Having two different contacts is the latest thing. One for distant and one for close. Some people can do, I could not.

I was warned that might be an issue but i didn't have any issues, he said it might affect depth when you first put them in.

As Jsymes mentioned Ive struggled with this for years as well, I tried contacts but didnt like them.
Tried different helmets and goggles over the year, I found Having a good thin balaclava (klim) with a breath deflector helps.
I ended up with a heated goggle and removed the foam out of the front vent of my helmet, and avoid as much as possible taking your helmet and goggles off.

One eye is near sighted and the other is far sighted. Does't work well with contacts with my prescription.

Air flow is the key to goggles and glasses.
I have fans on some and others allow lots of air.
When o start moving I slip my goggles on and away I go. I’ve worn glasses for 20years of riding.

I got mine done probably 15 years ago. Never regretted it once. I use reading glasses now for up close stuff but driving or riding I'm good.
