My buddies second wife didn't have a clue either! He was going out to plug in the areation fans and she thought that he had a row of fans at the end of the field to dry the swaths! Also she thought that the grain would leak out of the holes in the side of the trailer when the truck was hauling!Just had to explain to her there was a different trailer for grain and one for hauling cattle!!!!He should have listened to me to f her and chuck her because she got half the farm money and now he lives in town doing construction work!!!Gotta love gold diggers!!

That really sucks.

I also get the rich farmer routine because of the equipment on the yard! Also they figure the grain and cattle cheques are pure profit not understanding how much it costs to get that cheque in your hand!Plus they can't wrap their heads around when a guy gets his fuel bill or fertilizer bill and you don't grab your chest and keel over!!LOL!!!

Well, don't get to jealous. We baled a good bit of our hay yesterday with big square bales. It has been so hot and dry down here all week. We finally just now got a nice rain storm.

I know it is hard to lose your farm to gold diggers. That is why when you marry you get a prenup. I will with my pap having 6 gas wells on his place. There is for sure no one going to try and take it from me. Just cause they see dollar signs.

To change the subject did anyone have any luck growing winter wheat before? Some of my rented land that was supposed to be seeded in june to barley might be dry enough by september to do something with!!!Another 2 inches of rain in the last 2 days is starting to put some nails in the coffin of putting barley there for silage or greenfeed!!Otherwise I paid a pile of money to summerfallow 450 acres!!!

There are a couple different farms around here that grow winter wheat. They have had very good luck with it.

If you make your decision quick you might have a chance to get in on Duck's Unlimited deal. They set aside so many acres a year and will pay some money towards your inputs for the crop. It is definately worth looking into it. There are some guys in our area contracting acres through them.:)

Don't laugh. They see nice truck which I am paying for myself with working 2 somethings 3 jobs. Then I say my last name and the guys go don't you have wells. I always say me pap does. Then next thing I know they have interest in wanting to date. I look at them and say if you are looking for a rich wife your barking up the wrong tree. It is going to be a long time before I see any money for my family farm. Down here Pa. the only way to farm and survive is to have gas wells. Then you can up grade equipment that has been need to be replaced, put more buildings up and get somethings done.

So next year we are goin from a 60' planter to a 90' planter and some of our field drives are gonna need to be widened so dad and I went tO talk to the county engineer and all that happened is we both left outta there pissed off. I could just as well tried to reason with the cupboards In the shop. Atleast if I did that I would have known there was no hope from the beginning and not been so disappointed when nothing happened. I can't believe how friggin dumb some people can actually be. I don't want to get into full details with this whole situation unless somebody is really interested but I just can't believe how brainless some county officials can be.

We have been pricing our insecticide to spray aphids and 2 years ago we used a product named "slincer" it was basically a generic warrior and only cost like $2 an acre to spray. Now this year there is a couple retailers that dont even handle the stuff because they claim its too dangerous. They tell us they can get it in but we will have to spray it if we want to kill ourselves . the other retailer is selling the stuff like hot cakes and acts like there is no problem with it. its only a pytheroid not an organophosphate. does anybody know anymore about this product along the lines of safety or does the retailer not want to sell it because its so dang cheap?
