Fuggin country is blowing away here today. 75km winds and my neighbour to the south has 3000 acres pro-tilled like a garden. Fuggin organic farmers….
When they came out every farmer had to have one here it was the dumbest thing ever guys protillinf there whole fields snd then then it would all blow away or come spring tbe cracks in the ground would be so huge you would be seeding into huge lumps and clumps not a good soil bed. Only use for them is fixing ruts but hey my 5000 dollar 8foot wide disc does that to.I don’t understand the blow-till. $140k implement and you need big hp to pull it.

Just how much NH3 are you towing along?
It’s to make your field look pretty in the spring after having yet another wreck the year before. It’s an organic farmers way of justifying poor farming practices.I don’t understand the blow-till. $140k implement and you need big hp to pull it.

Just got back from Manitoba and NH3 is everywhere out there.Hardly any one using NH3 here in our area anymore. We’ve seen supply issues in the past and guys are finding they can prepurchase their dry fertilizer when the price is lower instead of paying through the nose at the spring season. Lots of us have purchased hopper bins to store it, buy early and the money saved from mid summer to spring covers the cost of the bins. Heard about 5 yrs ago as well that the government was talking about banning it saying it was too dangerous a product to handle by farmers. Sounds like something pinhead would come up with.
We are aways normally mich cheaper with nh3 compared to dry. We have hoppers for the sulphur and phos blends but we prepurchase our nh3 in decemeber and on a “normal” year we save quite a bit over dryHardly any one using NH3 here in our area anymore. Anywhere from 12-20 cents but nh3 nearly trippled in price over last year, normal year may save 5-10 cents by prebuyin last year was under 50 cents a pound full delivery this year 1.30-1.50 a pound a unjustified increaseWhat was the difference in pre buying and market price on nh3 this year?
