Thought I would start a thread for the Yamaha Viper owners. Anything and everything viper related. Turbocharged, non turbo. Pics, vids, mods or not. What you have done. What works or did not work and more. Tell us about and show us your viper. Problems, repairs updates etc.

I have a 2014 XTX SE viper. 174 X 3” track, CR tunnel, CR boards, racers edge rear suspension with elka shock. Ice age rails, avid drivers, 38” Zbroz front A arms with exit triple rate shocks. Curve XS skis, Boost-It turbo, stock engine with Mbrp header. Geared to 24 tooth top and 50 tooth bottom.
Running 10lbs boost. I am running 50/50 C12 and shell 91 premium. So folks say I don’t need the race fuel at only 10 lbs and am leaving some power on the table by running it?

I have the same turbo kit and similar set up on my viper. I would get afr gauge if your going to take some race fuel out of the mix and make sure your running on the rich side. I just ran what Neil suggested for octane back in the day which was 50/50 for 10-12 lbs boost and straight race for 14 lbs . That might be overkill but its some insurance. This year I tried some straight av 10-12 lbs no issues runs awesome

Maybe I will just cut it back to a couple of gallons of race and see how that runs. It definitely looks rich coming out the exhaust. Turns my ski and snow black like a two stroke. Need an A/F gauge for sure.

I love your gear ratio, your not the type that tries to hold your sled back by gearing low. You have the HP and your allowing the clutches to get loaded. I bet she pulls.
You don't see to many gearing up like that.

Yes get an A/F gauge, not expensive and easy to install.

blow off valve plumbed into the intake
built my own power steering
afr and boost gauge

New to me this year a 2014 viper xtx , I have really enjoyed riding this sled. Works very well...as good as the sidewinder in most aspects. I’m the second owner and it’s just rolled over 8000km.

162 x 2.5 camoplast extreme
RSI billet board inserts
Spiralus Design wrap

Cat magnetic tether
Xtreme air vents
skidoo summit skis
skidoo xm brake and push button start ( works awesome)

Did you find the fox floats work better? I may also have to try the gripper skis? Heard that they work fairly well.

Yes, I like the floats better, I tried a few different skis too, I liked the grippers best. IMO the worst was the curve xs. Keep in mind if you change your front suspension to the 36" your exits will no longer work.

The 2016 Yamaha front end is 36” ?
I was thinking about trying the new barcode performance front end. It raises the front end 2” with the option of 3” if you want. Moves the skis forward 1.25” and provides a 34” ski stance. As my front end still has the stock 2014 spindles, so stock 2014 geometry.

I believe they advertised it as a 34.5 - 38.5", but the adjustment was with the bushings on the skis, the center to center on the spindles is 36. Price out the upgrade through cat, its way cheaper than yamaha. If i remember right the cat front suspension with spindles was cheaper than the barcode A-arms and your likely going to need different shocks anyway. And you'll have parts available in case you ever bend one.

Built my viper in 15, thing works awesome but took lots of cake to get it there. Boost it turbo kit, baker t-motion, 162 3" power claw, 36'' front end, raptor shocks up front, cleaned bars up with muster controls. Ran gripper skis from day 1 they work good but i switched to powder hounds this season and really like them. Lots of other odds and ends weighs 620 wet. 3000 km havent blown a belt. I usually run 8-12 lbs boost ran 50/50 race over the years now running straight av this season and runs great on it. Only issue i had was my starter kicked back and took out my starter, starter gear, magneto and stator. I had no idea there was a update flash for the ecu to prevent the kick back. So if you pick one of these vipers up make sure it has the new flash .

Anyone try the BDX 36” wide pro lite front suspension? Cat parts for the front suspension seem difficult to find.
