so why are you wanting ladd 3 for SAR. why are you wanting to talk to SAR. is it to give us info or to find out where we are? Robson valley has it's own radio and programed channel to communicate with each other. as far as I know we don't monitor.

So if your messed up and need-waiting for sar, they have a idea what channel to try to communicate with you

I can tell you one sar call I was on, if we did not find out from family members and there riding buddies, what channels they use normally, we might not have found them

It was after this info, I was able to contact them with my radio, after a hunch on one area we never looked at

It's not for SAR to monitor, nobody expects SAR to monitor anything. It is for other groups around you to be able to offer or ask for assistance if needed and if SAR needs to come find you then use it.

Rode Boulder over the weekend. We were using FRS7 as out group communication channel and I was monitoring Ladd3 on my 2nd channel. Unfortunately Ladd3 was being used by the highway traffic controllers. I ended up not monitoring Ladd3 for most of the day as my mic was blasting 'I let this truck through or I didn't let that truck through'.

Ladd 3 is a popular channel amongst road construction and earth moving companies all over north east alberta, would not surprise me if that was the same on the west side.

Well the plus side is you could contact outside help if you needed to.

Has any one come up with the frequency/tone that Vernon Communications/Vella Radio Links people are promoting now.????? They do not like our Baofengs. I like the Ladd 3 option. I monitor Ch 16 a lot when I ride with the 2 LML quad clubs I belong to but not when riding with our Elkford club. One of the LML clubs uses Chatterbox 8-07, which is 16-07 GMRS. Would be really nice to see more people using something more "standard" Keep pushing for it Ray and it will happen. I keep RR. loading, Ladd, BCA, FRS/GMRS and a few other frequencies in my radios all the time so I have most of the bases covered wherever I am at. All baofengs can be programmed to [MONITOR] two frequencies at once. Turn menu setting 7 to ON. Change A/B button to transmit on the one you want. Rays UV82s are already dual watch/transmit

4WDABC secret channel is Ladd 2 with a tone which I don't know but baofeng can scan tones if you wanted to find out. Anyone can look up what frequencies are licensed on the industry canada website.
