Epoxy River Projects

Ok guys let's see them.

I have just started messing around with some epoxy projects. I figured better start with something small in case I mess up. Supplies aren't cheap.

Want to work up to some table tops or bar tops maybe. Going to try some hunting themed things as well.

If any one else is doing some of these I would love to see some pics.

Here is some of my first charcuterie boards. Finished with a food safe product.

Gave these ones to my kids and their spouses for Xmas .

Those are nice! Yes it sure is a learning curve. I have one ready to take out of a mold that was sposed to look like lava from a volcano but not sure how it's going to turn out. Will put up some pics when done.... maybe. Lol

When mixing colors or stirring for effect you sure have to watch the timing or it just blends back in.

Thanks for starting this thread. Keep posting your tips or blunders.

So far I’m just a wood collector but I have a few projects on my todo list.

This big piece is going be a outdoor bar/counter next to the hot tub. The plan is to get the one jagged side squared off strait with a one edge reverse River. Probably a semi translucent foggy blue. Thinking of encasing a strip of led lighting into the epoxy to make the edge glow blue at night. Install with the squared off epoxy edge towards the hot tub with the blue edge just above the lip of the tub kinda like a waterfall into the tub.

The smaller 2 slabs will be a couple shelves for the towels and hot tub supplies.

Project 2.

New fire place mantle.

I found this 12’ cedar timber that I will try to chop up and mitre into a 8’ mantle with 2 x 2 foot 90degree returns so it becomes a big u shape.

Then try to copy the Finnish in the 2 lower pics.

Not my shop. I did a little electrical work to get the guys saws and dust collectors hooked up.

Good guy to get wood or epoxy supplies in Edmonton if anyone is looking.

What is on the bottom side of the wood when you pour the epoxy? Assume it’s something that it won’t stick to?

Used mdf and lined it with tuck tape but I have ordered some stuff off Amazon that it sposed to be the good chit. Aresol spray.

Came highly recommended so we will see when it shows up.

What epoxy are you using?

Tried 2 different ones. Will get back to you with names.
Ecopoxy is the last one I used. Little quicker cure time.

That will be awesome looking. Make sure we get pics!!

Not a river project but this is my first attempt with the ecopoxy. 46"x60" table. Laminated 2x6's for legs. 2X4"s on edge top held together with 3 pieces of 1/2" all thread and glue. Made a router sled to level the top. Used transparent black stain on the wood.

Did a a euro mount for my deer with epoxy. Didn’t turn out as good as I hoped.

Your supposed be able to see shells casings

Steel frame is cool. Would look good if drilled holes and put some casings around the edge.
