Enclosed trailer tires

Well the trailer I bought 1 1/2 yrs ago came with ****ty tires. I knew it was only a matter of time. Well today it dodnt blow but there is no tread left on one and the other three have been separating. So it is time. I saw a post a cople years ago about trailer tires. Seems like the best choices are maxxis or the good year marathons. Is this still the general consensus? Any better options or just these two? I think it would be better going to an e rated tire too.

As I was cleaning up the yard today, I looked at both of my trailers and thought I should replace the tire, just Because.....
Both were bought new, one in 04 and one in 07. They have both seen a lot of miles, and sometimes a tad over the speed limit. Both trailers have Carlisle tires, and I would buy them. But I would look at getting a better load rating, if they have it?

A lot of trailer tires are available in e rated, but I have to go up one size.

I could go up one size on the holiday trailer, but I don't think I can on the sled trailer?

Have to see what you have on there. I have 205/75/15 on mine now and to get into the e rated you have to go to 225/75/15's. I am pretty sure I have the room.

I replaced my trailer tires on my boat this spring, I had the marathons on there, they weren't wearing very good at all. I read a bunch of reviews, on both the marathons and the maxxis. There were a LOT. Of negative reviews on the marathons, and the Maxxis seemed to have some decent reviews. I bought the maxxis, balanced them, and have been happy with them.

Have to see what you have on there. I have 205/75/15 on mine now and to get into the e rated you have to go to 225/75/15's. I am pretty sure I have the room.

FWIW this is what I did with my TT, went from the stock 205/75/15 C rated to 225/75/15 E rated and couldn't be happier with them. They're a pretty standard trailer brand "greenball" I think I've got probably 15k on them now, wearing great lots of rough gravel and off roading. So nice having overbuilt tires on the rig and not having to worry about flats.

I also installed a set of Maxxis three seasons ago, balanced as well. Wearing evenly. Very happy with these tires.

Also think of this guys.

I have installed extra load winter tires with studs on enclosed trailers.

The difference is amazing I guess. The trailer won't pull the truck on corners.

Trailer brakes work awsome.

If u put lots of miles on Ur trailer Mabe think of it too.

The difference is amazing I guess. The trailer won't pull the truck on corners.

Makes sense. I would have to use my trailer a lot in the winter to make it worth while. But to have a good set of studded tires on the truck and trailer would be the ultimate!

Mabe they would wear a bit faster in the summer but realy would make the winter trailering worth the wearing faster ???

I think they would wear like crazy in the summer. Just think of all the forces put on trailer tires vs a truck tires. The trailer tires get dragged a lot when cornering or turning.

Put Carlisle 225/75/r15 on my trailer
Crappy tire better than those stock tires

But lots of guys I know only use it in the winter.

The one guy said its insane how the trailer doesn't slide out when backing up and tracks with the truck

Well picked up a new set if tires and rims from trailers unlimited for 520.
