Emergency!!!! EGT sensor compatibility question. 2017 800 rmk sensor to 2020 800/850

Got a buddy out in Revelstoke right now and his sled is throwing an EGT sensor code on his 2017 800 rmk. Keeps going into limp mode. The Polaris parts breakdown shows it being part number 4013133. My question is will the newer sensor part number 4016024 for the 2018 up to 2021 800's and 850's work as an upgraded sensor? He's broke down right now and searching for a sensor for his remaining 4 days of riding.

Apparently the newer ones wont fit. Does anyone have an EGT sensor from a 2011 pro rmk up to a 2017 pro rmk that happens to be in Revelstoke now? If you have one please call Curt at 1-587-783-1270 thanks.

I don't know the answer but I would bet the two sensors measure temperature in the same way. The difference may be the electrical connector or threads at the pipe. When I followed the Cat forums some guys figured out that the M8 pipe sensor was the same as a Duramax. Your buddy should look close at the wire for a spot where it flexes the most may be broken.

If you disconnect the sensor does it still go into limp mode?

It hurts to suggest them as I have had a few negative experiences but backus would most likely have one.
