I am going from PG to Fort Mcmurray in Feb. Is it best to go through Edmonton or is there a better skirt around rd. Or is Dawson Creek an option.

Well according to Google Maps, these two routes are the same time. I would be inclined to give this ( highway 44) a try if you are looking to avoid Edmonton. Safe trip X.

Mackenzie/Pine Pass is always a roll of the dice at this time of the year.

I would always go 44 to westlock across to Clyde corner and keep going East on 18 to 63 and then North to FMM. Was never a lot of traffic on the 18. Might be different now though.

I booked a room yesterday in westlock, I missed highway 44 when searching the maps. I did not realize it was that close to Edmonton. Take a wrong ramp on that ring road...fawk.

Yup. Exit 368 - Villeneuve Westlock just east of Spruce Grove. If you notice the giant ENTREC building on the right (south) side of the road you missed your turn
