I removed my felt than put it back on. Looking at it closer it doesnt impede air flow but possibly insulates the intake, my buddy said the felt blocked airflow on his 17 and the engine felt was horrible, but it’s different this year.
Colder intake are means more HP. Dunno if im correct, but Im gunna give it a try.

Leaving mine in aswell, gotta try it the way it's supposed to be before I start changing stuff. That way I have a baseline to go off. No can installed on my mine..however I'm eyeing up an HPS can if I can hear on on the snow to make sure its quiet.

A lot quieter also if you can leave it in.

I've been doing it for years and I guess it is just habit. I know when I took out everything on the '17 and put the pieces in the bathtub to soak up some water, they were 10# heavier. Not that 10# makes a big difference!
The relocation of the temp sensor on the can was interesting but I got it. Nice that they have a couple of folds of wire zip tied to give an extra couple inches.

For those interested here is what I am doing on the 19’s , take out all foam on doors, except I cut the foam around the intake Parton the inside of the door, left a couple of cm’s as this seals it, also left the foam around the round seal to connect the Cvt cover, all other foam gone. Gone also is the felt out of Cvt cover and between engine and clutches, they are only noise related. Leaving the felt under the air box hood. I also cut the small section of Cvt cover at the back that blocks the left foot well, this is a 1 inch by 4 inch piece you can see when installed that blocks the exit of air through foot well. This is probably the best way to allow maximum air flow and exit with the set up, I would not cut or put holes in the Cvt or aluminum pieces as this will ruin the flow that was designed and created, cheers dave

Thanks Dave, what felt are you referring to on the cvt cover? Someone else asked me about that and my cover has no felt on it.

You bet bud! I also used to remove it on my xps, left it in on my last two sleds, out of habit. Im not trying to take anything away on your sled setup.

This is a new chassis to me so I want to look at the amount of moisture in the foam before I begin to remove it. I lost 10 lbs with my new job so Im good. Lol
And PFI572 is correct on the foam dampning the sound. Im more interested in a quiet sled these days so I’ll play it by ear!

Yippee! The ground is white in edson!!! Let it stack up in the hills!

Dave, I left the foam on the exhaust side panel due to the fact that the cooker can is very close. I too left the foam on for the tight fit with the CVT. With the cooker can, I have learned that it is good to put foil tape over the rewind and any wires that are in the vicinity. Also, I took out the felt under the air box and that little bit of foam that was under that.

On the bottom/inside of the CVT, there is a small piece of felt (about 8"x12").
