Hey all got a 11 etec low mileage wants to overheat all the time. Is there a way to check the t-stat before I pull the engine to get the water pump inspected? the tunnel cooler gets warm on half of it and the other half is cool. No matter what as soon as it run wot across the field even in deep powder. I'm leaning toward the water pump. Anyone else experience this? thx

my guesss is airlock its very rare that the waterpump fails but it can happen.

before you start doing unnecessary work the ETEC 800 is famous for airlocking. Lift the front of the sled so the engine is above the rear cooler. remove the radiator cap and let it get up to operating temperature with the cap off, refill as necessary as air starts to escape.

if the engine is not above the cooler it will not purge.

Tried that after i checked the coolant level. popped it up on a snowbank and let it run for a bit. It was warm at the time though. Maybe it wont let go if its still hot. Sled was good the 2 years previous just started for some reason

How long of minutes does it take till it says it over heats?
Have you air purged the cooling system?
Most likely the Tstat is stuck or the water pump is done.
