Can anyone explain to me the common sense behind forcing someone to leave a sled on the side of the road. There would be far more danger to the general puplic caused by the unloading and loading of the sled ect... Than by perhaps escorting the "offender" to town or a safe location.

Everyone here Speaks to the issue of respect and politeness towards these civil servants, I have very little for these overbering, self righteous toll both attendents.Yes they have a job to do,yes they protect the public saftey. A little common sense and people skills can go a long way. I have hauled D8,s through the scales at tete jaune, everytime iam pulled in, iam treated like a hardcore criminal.
I would rather be stopped by the RCMP than by DOTs, anyday. These guys put legislation before puplic saftey because most lack the practical knowledge to know the difference.

the back has to be tied down and apparantly, a tie-down from front bumper to d-ring in the floor is sketchy, i guess just be smiley if you get pulled over, on a not so funny note, had a customer that was going from grande prairie to fort st john, about 3 winters ago, rcmp nabbed him on the bc side of the border charged him for driving at an unsafe speed for road conditions, he was doing 100k on icy-snowy roads which we get used too, he gets a littled po'd at the rc then grabs is lunch pail with the lunch pail with the thermos attached to the top of pail from the back of his truck. the cop weighs it with his portable scale, and charges him again for unsecured load over the mininum weight. needless to say he closed his fort st john office. true story.

this dot guy asked if i had any gas cans in the box and if there was they are to be tied down, in the box, with a deck! luckly no gas! there might even be laws about the amount of fuel stored in a truck box or inclosed! u may have to run placards. propane too! and i asked about slip tanks, he said that i dont even want to know! looks like the hasel is better to get it all at the pump!

it also sounds like they will be checking if the tow vehicle and trailer are registered to the same person or company! making pulling buddys trailer a real nightmare! another thing he said that the trailer brakes must all work, and if one does not then all your weight gets counted to the other axle. result, overweight ticket! again like we have been a saying if you are nice a respect why u are pulled over u many be off the hook.

You wont get a overweight ticket because of non operating brake weight being carried over. He was just trying to play the role.I think this guy needs to go back to handing out hall passes. What does a tow vehical and trailer having different regs have to do with anything. As long as the documents are in order its none of his bussiness.
Why dont these guys stop a drunk driver or something, Whoops i forgot, there have been four police officers charged with imparied driving in BC in the last two months, If they make to many real stops they wont have anyone to drink coffee with.

got pulled over in golden deck and trailer measured the width of deck 8'4" trailer 8'5" if you build a deck do not go over 8'5" including lights he could not find nothing wrong so he gave me a warning ticket for not having highway flares if you have anything over 7" wide you must carry them and if your mirrors do not extend past your deck it can be a ticket got my ass chewed out from a rcmp officer at sparwood 5'2" with a adittude

I wonder if a set of the rear Superclamps would be good enough for the back? As for the lift kits; I can't see how they can enforce that on a truck legally registered and in Alberta that is just in BC for a short period of time.
You would be surprised at what they can do, when you are in B.C. you have to obey the laws here just the same as if you were in any other place, it don't matter how long you will be there. Best thing is to not draw too much attention to your stuff! Mostly they just like picking on anyone who looks like they are having too much fun!!

I was thinking along the lines of when we go into a province that they run a front licence plate. We don't need a front plate when we go home; cause our vehicle isn't registered in that province. Oh well; I guess if I get pulled over my lift is only 4" when I'm in BC.:d:d
