Picking mine up from the lake and taking the trailer in next week.... Looks like they just check to see if there is any cracks and then install the deflector plate and wire in another sensor?? Not much to it.

My trailer is an 2007. No notice about a recall.

It goes by the year of the fridge NOT the year of the trailer your fridge could be sitting in a warehouse for god knows how long before it is installed in a new trailer better check your fridge see if it is affected...lots of 07-08's on the recall

Hi Everyone,
I did some research into the Dometic fridge recall and I am not satisfied with the recall repair that Dometic is proposing.

Dometic is not addressing the Problem, Fatique cracks in a weld in the boiler system which allows refrigerant gases to escape into the burner tube, causing a fire. They are adressing the syptom, which is the fire in the the burner tube.
The dometic repair is to add additional shrouding around the burner housing to prevent the spread of a fire to the rest of the trailer or vehicle that the fridge is installed in.
Their theory is that very few incidents of fires have occured, and in the event of a fire occuring in the future, after this recall is performed, the fire would be contained to the new enlarged firebox/burner area without spreading to the rest of the unit the fridge was installed in.
They are not replacing the faulty BOILER TUBE assembly.
The bottom line is DOLLARS!!
How much do you think it would cost Dometic to replace the boiler system in 4 MILLION fridges?? Mega dollars as opposed to a $20.00 patch up job to mitigate their liabilities.
I have been in touch with Transport Canada this morning and I am going to be lodging a formal complaint for them to investigate.
I would recommend that everyone else, that has the same dometic safety recall do the same.
After all, would you and your family feel comfortable sleeping in your RV with the potential of a fire happening? I should think not.
Here is a link to Transport Canada's website where you can fill out an online defect form. This form goes to their investigators.
I am doing mine today.
By the way, I own a 2005 30' Cougar fifth wheel, with a 2 door Dometic Fridge model # RM2852. I just received my recall notice from Keystone RV last week.
If any one has any questions feel free to email me.
Regards
Horst
