John M. Fox

Corporal (Ret'd)

1947 - 2020

Reg #33625

Years of Service: 1976 - 2008

Postings: "E" Division

Passed at Abbotsford Regional Hospital, Abbotsford, B.C. on April 6, 2020 at the age of 73 as a result of coronavirus.

John's son, Ron Fox, publicly posted the following on Facebook to share news of his father's passing, and to caution people to be mindful of the danger of COVID-19.
_______

Yesterday my daughter Madison Fox was at work . A customer was talking to her and told her "this whole corona thing is blown up out of proportion " . When I worked last week I heard the same thing a number of times . Also "don't worry I don't have it"

I want to share the time line of my dads last 3 weeks. Maybe it will change your mind if you think this won't happen to me !!!

My dad was 73. Active , no underlying conditions. (Not elder!)

March 13 a visit to the dentist.
March 16th golfed/walked 18 holes.
March 18 fever cough generally not feeling well.
March 22 admitted to Maple Ridge hospital increased fever and trouble breathing
March 25 transferred to ICU in Abbotsford sedated and put on ventilator.
March 25-April 6th Battled hard each day with numerous issues until his final breathe.

THIS IS REAL. THIS CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE. THIS IS NOT EXAGGERATED. THIS CAN HAPPEN TO YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW OR LOVE.

STAY HOME. YOU WILL SAVE LIVES.

Please free to share this post. Hopefully it will change some minds.

My Dad , John Fox, was always volunteering. Whether it be donating blood, being the Sunshine Bear, the RCMP Bear, Santa Claus etc. The last few years he gave his time to the
North Fraser Therapeutic Riding Association. He loved it and it meant the world to him .
With his passing in lieu of flowers please donate to this cause that meant so much to him .

I know a lot of people, many have had a cold or flu, including myself last November. It had the same common symptoms as Corona, i felt like **** for a week, but wasn't it tested for it. I have a daughter who is a nurse, and a son in law who is a doctor, also many aunts, uncles, and cousins who are doctors or nurses...some employees of mine are married to doctors or nurses, and everyone is saying the same thing, that this has been blown way out of proportion. My daughter who works at Costco has said they are as busy as ever, or maybe more so, with people coming to PG shopping from small towns. A few complained on here about out of towners going to McBride to ride...yet a lot of McBride people come to PG and shop in crowded places like Costco. So instead of worrying about some sledders out riding on a mountain, instead they should worry about their own town folks going to the big city stores. As for myself, I have been going on living and working, sledding a LOT!

We are close to the Cargill plant fiasco in High River. This is a big deal down here. Today 484 people who tested positive are related to the outbreak to the plant. A majority of the business's are closed either because they are non essential or there are outbreaks at their businesses. McDonalds, Tims x2, A&W, 7-11, Credit Union that I know of. All 3 long term /seniors homes are on full lockdown because of workers that tested positive. One dead 70 yr old in the long term at the hospital because of positive workers. Its nerve wracking. My mother is healthy but in a seniors home there and 5 workers have tested positive. I'm praying that in 2 months I still don't anyone that got the virus.

My wife’s grandmother is in seniors home in black diamond, three workers were tested positive at that home. All linked to the cargill plant.

Yep sadly its pretty much the Phillopino population in the area. Great people, hard workers. Husbands work at the plant and the wives work at the fast food places and health care facilities. I don't blame them. They are working 3 jobs to make it in their new country but boy has it ever hit High River and Okotoks and Black Diamond hard. Its like dropping a drop of dye into a bowl of water. It just balloons in a matter of hours.

Probably worse as many likely went to work after showing symptoms as they needed the money and those type of jobs likely wouldn't compensate well staying at home.

I was told by the manager at the lodge my mom is at that all 4 of the workers at the facility called from home when their husbands got sick and said they wouldn't be in which was good of them. They then got tested and were found positive to.

I have no Covid friends. 0.0 cases

well 'duke, I hope you are fortunate enough to go through all of this without any "Covid friends", unfortunately it is starting to affect a lot of people. The Cargill problem ramped up VERY quickly and will continue to spread in that area for many weeks. This will likely spread like wildfire around that area
