Do Albertans really hate BC because of our government's stupidity?

So this has come up a few times while I cruise the good old interweb. FU BC you don't like our pipelines, I will go sled in Montana. BC is anti industry. BC is anti logging.

I've tried to explain that the (in my opinion that is correct just sayin) the majority of BC did not vote in this schizzle storm of a "government" in, and we are working very hard to push back and preserve not only our sport in our province, but our economic viability and investibility. Trust me, it's as frustrating for us, as it is to those on the outside looking in.

What would be very helpful to me, so I could relay this to those in government (I have some pretty cool friends) is how the optics of anti industry anti oil have caused you to rethink your plans to ride in BC.

Our sport is important to the province of BC. The BCSF just conducted an economic impact study, and we provide over 299 million dollars in economic stimulus to the province. That is significant.

I really want to hear it from those who frequent from out of province.

Thank you!

Hey

In regards to your request not only have we stopped sledding in BC but our summer vacations to Osoyoos and Victoria have also stopped. My family loves BC, I know that my economic foot print might be small but I do get to choose where I spend my money.

Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!! I may pm you at some point for a little more info if you don't mind. We need to quantify the impact of stupidity.

I have a place in the Shuswap that I’m at at least a week a month. Only change I’ve made is bringing all my fuel and groceries from Alberta. If my oil isn’t welcome then my oil dollars shouldn’t be either. I used to buy all my supplies in BC. All my BC friends though hate the current situation with the government and really want the pipeline to go forward.

We are about the same
We still sled in B.C. but about half as much as we used to and we used to go on summer trips but never do that now. And when we do sled in B.C. all our supplies are bought in Sask or Alta
Don't hate B.C. just hate the situation
Not even from Alta,,, From Sask.

That is a huge economic loss for BC that absolutely needs to be mentioned! Thank you.

Also, I dont hate BC.

Thank You! I'd apologize for our government but honestly there is no excuse for such stupidity.

I moved from BC in '92,.. I grew up on Van Isl and most of my relatives live in BC, including my wife's family. I have had 3 job offers in the past and turned them all down because of the gov't; I dislike all your unnecessary taxes, I despise your insurance monopoly, I disagree with you catering to the unemployed that can work and especially the greenies. I ALWAYS bring my own fuel if I come to BC sledding, I ALWAYS bring my own food/snacks.. BUT I DO buy a trail pass when I go sledding and support the sledding cause when I am out.

So ya,.. I guess I do hate your government.

Edit,.. My wife and I were both born in BC,.. Kelowna and Kamloops

I was born and raised in the W.Koots so I don't think I could ever hate BC. That being said for the last several years MT is my go to place for recreation now. Pipeline fiasco is just part of it, lots of tree huggers and dippers hanging around "back home" as well.

Hate BC?, hell no.
Just the wing nut politicians running the place and the greater Vancouver wingnuts that voted them in.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Me too. You have no idea what I've gone through especially in the last week it's like living in the twilight zone. Seriously. A Federal Liberal candidate (supporting the stupidity of our NDP MLA on an issue pertaining to our beautiful Kootenay Lake) literally said that unless the Environmental Non Government Organizations were up in arms about an issue, there is no issue. Wait what? So a foreign funded activist/terrorist group is deciding provincial conservation policy??????? We need change immediately.

Also don't hate BC. Your politics are what gets me. I spend most weekends in the Kootenays but try to never buy anything. (Its killing me to not stop at fernie brewing!) Also, it's a little annoying hearing all the 'stupid or damn Albertan' comments from a small minority of locals who say they hate us being there but are now whining that we aren't spending our money there. I was born in BC and parents live there.

I love Revy and the RSC. I and have purchased a annual membership for the past several years. But the reality is that I have a lot of friends and family that are hurting because of BC's opposition to TMX. Fact is sled sales in Alberta are affected by the lack of pipe lines. So in spite of many of you who have opposing views to your government. I can't help think BC current political stance is having a profound effect on the amount of time and money Albertain's are spending in BC. For two reasons 1) Lack of disposable income. 2) Not wanting to support political values that are against us making a living.

BC's stance on TMX has had a profound effect on me and my family's choice's of destinations. We're treated like valued guest's when we go south. It's a sad situation.

I have lots of friends in BC. Our family used to do all our camping in BC but now we do it in Alberta. Its just as good you just have to find the right spots. I love sledding to much to bail on BC and realize the best riding is in BC. We have cut back our trips just because of the cost of riding in the Revy area but still ride, sleep and eat our meals there. All our snacks and fuel come from Alberta now. Haven't bought sled fuel for years out there. To much gouging tourists. I feel sorry that the 60% of BC residents that support Canadian oil are pushed around by a looney left government and a bunch of leaf lickers and whack jobs in the lower mainland.

I don't think they are gouging tourist on gas price in Revelstoke. It is just more expensive in BC because of taxes and trucking it through the mountains.

30 cents a Liter more than Alberta on average Id say.
