Is anyone out there running a DJ kit on their 08 xp? I am planning on picking up a kit this week and trying to decide whether or not to replace the stock ramps as well. I have sent Dynamo Joe a couple of msgs but no response. The kit is supposed to be designed to work with stock ramps but some people are telling me to switch to the 09 or DJ's ramps. Would sure like to hear from some people who have this kit...

As well are you having to change PIN weight for local riding or are you able to make up the difference in elevation change by using the clickers?

Wpould ike to get some feedback as, as far as I can tell this is one of the best set-ups out there for the XP.

get the kit. get his new ramps if you can. if not use the ones from an 09.

also

its hard to make up the pinweight differance from mountain to flatland riding. but set the pinweight for where you ride the most and if you do not feel like changing it then leave it and the clickers will be able to get you fairly close.

I just installed the kit w/o the new ramps on my 2010 and it is insane, my sled pulls so hard and it's so smooth, engagement is earlier.
Do not hesitate, go for it........

There is some difference with the DJ ramps vs. the '08 ones. For the cost of his ramps most riders will tell you its highly recommended. Between DJ's ramps and the newer '09-10's there isn't as much of a difference.

Joey is up in Northern BC testing new products I believe all this week. And I am sure he will return to a full inbox. I had a DJ kit on my '04 and didn't hesitate when I bought my '09. The clutch engagement compared to my '04 is much better but I never compared it to stock '09. I have compared mine to a stock '08...and its two different worlds.

Its cheeper to buy Joey's ramps vs buying ones from an '09 unless you get some used ones. With the '08 ramps you may end up adjusting the clickers more if you one of them people who strive for the best your sled can provide.

I hear alot about the ramps being updated on the 09 and DJ has a set for the 08 to work with his set up, about $100.00 for a set. I am definitely going to put the kit in jsut debating whether the ramps are worth the money. I am not a big hillclimber, I just want a set up that works well in most conditions. I don't mind tinkering a little but don't want to have to spend a lot of time on set up before I ride.

I guess my question is if his kit for the 08 does not include the ramps are they a nice to have or a must have...

I would say "must have". The 413's in the 08's just don't compare to the 441's in the 09 and 10's. Joes ramps are very similar to a 441....but cheaper.

I have been "mostly happy" with the clutching on my 08, what I am not happy about is the brutal backshift under load, ie: deep powder and having to back off on a climb and then no rpm recovery. I know that the DJ kit is the best bang for the buck.

would be nice to hear from someone who has the 08 with the DJ kit and the stock ramps. Going to get the kit on Friday and put it in on the weekend, first ride on the 19th

If you really want to hear people say get the new ramps...go to dootalk.com go to the XP mountain section and they will tell you to get the mountain ramps. Most of them likely don't even have them, but they believe in Joey's products. There are other guys out there making clutch kits and I believe they also have a great product. Joey is a sledder who trys to improve his products 12 months of the year for guys like us.

If you are already buying the kit, what do you want guys with '08s and stock ramps to tell ya? Its your choice in the end, but his products are proven.

Enjoy your first ride!

For a 2008 with the stock 413 ramp, you'll need a ramp change to Dj's mtn ramp. If you can find a used 441 set, they'll work too, but DJ's ramps are cheaper and better as they blend the low/midrange rpm performance of the loved 415 with the midrange/top end of the 441, so Dj's ramp is the best of both ramps. I ran my 2008 with Dj kit and stock ramps, it was an improvement over stock hands down, however, still not as dialed as i wanted it to be, I added his ramps and now it is right on.
For the price, just add them.

I have an 09 and just installed joey's kit, excellent results, I also ordered his mtn ramps for that little extra bit, but havent installed them yet (just recieved them). I will be trying them on the weekend of the 19th. So I will either have a set of 441(stock) ramps or dj's mtn ramps for sale after that weekend, depending on my thoughts are on the outcome of testing the new ramps.

Cheers MB

Here's a pic of a 441 against a 415 and another pic of some ramps Joe cut for me against a 441. These are his big bore ramps....a further mod on his own ramps.

You can see in my testing that the 441 definitely upshifts further than the 415. The 441 is a lot flatter on top....like running a 415 in Clicker negative 5 (which doesn't exist of course)....so you need less pin weight.

Just received my DJ kit with ramps for my kids XP. Can't wait to have him try it out. I spoke with Joey last week and he was out of the helix. So I ordered from Ryan at General Auto in Lamont, AB. 780-895-7446 Also got some of the clutch tools from him. He's got a truck that comes into Edmonton so he was able to deliver them. But I suggest you talk to Ryan about that. Treated me pretty good..
Joey is in Tumbler Ridge this week doing some testing. Yeh, that's what I tell my wife to. Just going to the hills to do some testing on the sleds, Hunny.........

I ran DJ's kit on my 08 with stock 413 ramps and it was better then stock for sure. I switched to 415 ramps and liked it even more except that it would not fully shift out on the flats and over rev. I put in some 09 441 ramps and it would fully shift out but the "feel" of the throttle at low speeds felt "slow". I then put my 415 against the 441 and ground down the tips to match the 441 ramps. I went out and was feeling pretty good, throttle response was good and it would fully shift out; although 19-45 are only good for about 80 MPH it was frustrating to hit a wall at only 60 MPH before. I was smiling right up until my motor let go only 15 km from the truck. Sled is in the shop waiting for a new motor, It looks like a crank bearing or rod bearing on the PTO side let go on me, won't know for sure until I pick it up. Thumbs up to Forest Power Sports in P.G. and warranty.Get the DJ kit and his ramps and I think you will be happy.
